Detailed Job Description:

As a Principal Embedded Software Engineer supporting KPIT in Pune, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of low-level firmware design, hardware-software integration, protocol implementation, and memory management. Your day-to-day responsibilities include writing robust, high-performance code in Embedded C and C++, developing low-level device drivers, implementing mandatory CAN protocol stacks, managing Ethernet and Layer 1/Layer 2 networking, configuring socket programming, optimizing RTOS tasks and memory allocations, interfacing with PCI/PCIe peripherals, and collaborating closely with cross-functional hardware and system verification squads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robust, high-performance embedded software and low-level firmware utilizing Embedded C and C++.
• Develop and optimize low-level device drivers for custom microcontroller and microprocessor architectures.
• Implement and configure mandatory CAN protocol communication stacks, message filtering, and bus management.
• Manage Ethernet networking, Layer 1/Layer 2 protocols, and TCP/IP socket programming in embedded environments.
• Configure, tune, and optimize Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), task scheduling, interrupt handling, and memory management.
• Develop and troubleshoot PCI/PCIe interface drivers and high-speed peripheral communications.
• Participate in Linux and embedded firmware development, board bring-up, and hardware-software integration testing.
• Author meticulous technical design documents, software architecture specifications, interface control documents, and test procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 to 14 years of progressive professional experience in embedded software engineering and firmware development.
• Strong, demonstrable hands-on coding proficiency in Embedded C and C++ for resource-constrained environments.
• Deep practical expertise in developing low-level device drivers and hardware abstraction layers.
• Mandatory practical proficiency in CAN protocol implementation, network management, and bus diagnostics.
• Solid practical experience with Ethernet networking (L1/L2), socket programming, and TCP/IP protocol stacks.
• Proven operational proficiency in Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), task synchronization, and advanced memory management.
• Hands-on experience with PCI/PCIe hardware interfaces and Linux embedded firmware development workflows.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities under active hardware test conditions.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with strong collaborative and cross-functional abilities.
