Job summary

Wood Chennai Office is seeking a Principal Designer specialized in Control & Instrumentation for Offshore FPSO projects. The role entails leading design activities, 3D modelling, and detailed drawings across SP3D/E3D, AutoCAD, and AVEVA tools, with global travel and a hybrid/remote work setup.

Ideal candidates will have 10–15 years experience in C&I within EPC environments and a track record in field engineering and installation planning. Oil & Gas project background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Control Engineering / Instrumentation (Essential).
• Graduate in Instrumentation Engineering (Optional).
• Membership to Professional Organisations (Optional).
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in Control & Instrumentation Engineering with lead role in project execution (Essential).
• Proven EPC Engineering execution including Field Engineering in Project execution (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Completes technical design work to a high standard in line with Project requirements.
• Lead or Area Lead on Offshore Green field projects (Well head, LQ, Riser Platform, FPSO, FPU, FSO).
• 3D modelling of instruments, cable trays, junction boxes using SP3D, E3D.
• Preparation of 2D drawings such as Location Layout, Cable routing layout using AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• Preparation of Instrument Index and Installation Schedule using SPI, AVEVA.
• Cable block Diagram and Cable Schedule preparation using AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• Coordination with other disciplines for 3D model developments and reviews.

Wood Chennai Office is hiring a Principal Designer in Control & Instrumentation expertise for Offshore FPSO Projects. Oil & Gas project experience is preferred. Due to the nature of the projects the sites are spread across Global, therefore the role can be based at any of our Chennai offices on a hybrid / remote basis with expectation of regular travel as required.

Responsibilities

Completes technical design work to a high standard in line with Project requirements in following domain:

• Experienced in Offshore Green field projects (Well head, LQ, Riser Platform, Process platforms, FPSO, FPU, FSO) as Lead or Area Lead
• Experienced in 3D modelling of instruments, cable trays, junction boxes using SP3D, E3D
• Extraction and Preparation 2D drawings such as Location Layout, Cable routing layout using AutoCAD, MicroStation
• Preparation of Instrument Index and Installation Schedule using SPI, AVEVA
• Signal segregation and preparation of Cable block Diagram using AutoCAD, MicroStation
• Preparation of installation specifications
• Preparation of Installation and Hook-up drawings with Material Schedule using AutoCAD, MicroStation
• Sizing of calculation for Cables and Cable trays
• Preparation of Cable Schedule and Drum Schedule
• Preparation of Control Room and Equipment Room Layouts using AutoCAD, MicroStation
• Preparation of Termination Drawings and loop drawings in SPI / AVEVA/ AutoCAD/ MicroStation
• Coordination with other discipline for 3D model developments and 30%, 60% 90% Model review
