Job summary

Unispace in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Principal, Design to lead the design strategy and creative direction of our Bangalore studio. You will oversee the studio’s design portfolio, develop high-performing teams, build strategic client relationships and help secure new business through innovative, commercially successful design solutions.

You will lead and implement the studio's design strategy, mentor a high-performing team and drive design excellence across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture or equivalent design discipline.
• Extensive experience leading workplace design teams and complex projects.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Experience budgeting, resourcing and financial management for studios.
• Strong understanding of corporate real estate and approval processes.

The Role

Unispace is looking for an experienced Principal, Design to lead the design strategy and creative direction of our Bangalore studio.

You will oversee the studio’s design portfolio, develop high-performing teams, build strategic client relationships and help secure new business through innovative, commercially successful design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the studio’s design strategy.
• Oversee design projects to ensure quality, creativity and alignment with client objectives.
• Build strategic client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead high-profile pitches and communicate Unispace’s design methodology.
• Manage studio budgets, forecasting, resourcing and financial performance.
• Partner with Delivery and Management teams to achieve project and commercial targets.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing design team.
• Drive consistent design processes, standards and technology across the studio.
• Manage legal, reputational, commercial and project-related risks.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive and sustainable studio culture.
• Champion Unispace’s values and CSR initiatives.

About You

• A degree in Architecture or an equivalent design-related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading workplace design teams and complex projects.
• Strong technical and design expertise, with proficiency in Revit.
• Experience managing studio budgets, project financials and resource planning.
• A strong understanding of corporate real estate and relevant approval processes.
• Proven success developing strategic client relationships and supporting business growth.
• Excellent pitching, presentation and communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance design quality with project profitability.
• A reputation for innovative and conceptual thinking.
• Demonstrated experience developing talent and leading teams through growth and change.
