Job summary

Octave in Hyderabad, India, is seeking a Principal Cloud Ops Engineer to oversee deployment, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate across teams to ensure security, availability, and performance while driving automation and scalable operations.

The role requires expertise across AWS/Azure/GCP, IaC, PowerShell and Kubernetes, plus strong incident response and root-cause analysis skills to prevent outages and improve resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience deploying, maintaining, and optimizing cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proficiency with IaC, PowerShell, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud security and IAM.
• Ability to lead incident response and post-incident reviews.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high availability of production environments by monitoring performance and taking corrective actions.
• Adhere to cloud security best practices including encryption, IAM, and monitoring.
• Monitor cloud usage and optimize resource allocation to control spending.
• Hands-on experience in distributed software monitoring and APM visuals.
• Provide guidance to teams on vulnerability remediation.
• Lead incident response, diagnose root causes, and communicate during outages.
• Investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate on building a knowledge base with customer FAQ documentation.

• Ensure that cloud infrastructure adheres to industry best practices for security, including encryption, identity, and access management (IAM), and monitoring.


• Monitor cloud usage and optimize resource allocation to control cloud spending.


• Hands-on experience in distributed software monitoring, application performance monitoring & its visual representation


• Provide detailed guidance and support to teams in application vulnerability remediation.


• Incident Management: Lead incident response efforts, diagnose root causes, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. Ensure effective communication during outages.


• Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: To investigate and resolve incidents quickly during crisis situations, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.


• Work closely with the team in building a knowledge base publishing a collection of documentation that typically includes answers to frequently asked questions by customers.

As a Principal Cloud Ops Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security, availability, and performance of cloud services, drive automation initiatives, and resolve complex operational issues. This role requires a good understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/ Azure/GCP), infrastructure as code (IaC), PowerShell, Kubernetes and Cloud monitoring solutions to deliver scalable and reliable systems.
