Snapmint seeks a Principal Architect – Performance Engineering to lead performance initiatives across applications, databases, infrastructure and network. You will diagnose bottlenecks, optimize systems for high transaction volumes, and drive end-to-end improvements, sometimes executing them independently.

Office-based in Gurugram, with a focus on scalable architectures. The role requires 10+ years in performance/ Platform/ backend or solution architecture, strong hands-on work with PostgreSQL,

• 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, Platform Engineering, Backend Engineering, or Solution Architecture.

Responsabilités

• Own end-to-end performance of critical systems across latency, throughput, concurrency, scalability, and resource utilization.
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks using profiling, benchmarking, load testing, distributed tracing, and system-level analysis.
• Identify issues across application code, runtime, databases, network, and infrastructure, driving to resolution.
• Define patterns and standards for high-performance distributed systems and measure improvements.
• Collaborate with Backend, Platform, DevOps, SRE, and Data teams on high-impact performance initiatives.

The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Architect – Performance Engineering to drive performance engineering initiatives across the application, database, infrastructure, and network layers. The role requires deep expertise in diagnosing bottlenecks, optimizing system performance, and building scalable architectures capable of supporting high transaction volumes and rapid business growth.This is not a purely advisory architecture role. You will be expected to lead and, where required, independently execute performance improvements end-to-end.

What You Own

Performance Engineering

• Own end-to-end performance of critical systems across latency, throughput, concurrency, scalability,and resource utilization.
• Diagnose complex performance bottlenecks using profiling, benchmarking, load testing, distributedtracing, and system-level analysis.
• Identify performance issues across application code, runtime, databases, network, and infrastructure,and drive them to resolution.
• Establish performance engineering practices covering capacity planning, performance testing,profiling, and production optimization.
• Partner with engineering teams to design systems that scale predictably under increasing load.

Infrastructure, Database & Network Optimization

• Optimize compute, memory, storage, networking, and cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Tune PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and other data systems through query optimization, indexing, schema design, caching, connection management, and capacity planning.
• Analyse network behaviour including DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, connection pooling, load balancing, routing, and payload optimization.
• Investigate production incidents and perform deep root-cause analysis across the full technology stack.
• Build and improve observability required to understand system behaviour and proactively identify performance degradation.

Infrastructure & Operational Excellence Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define architectural patterns and engineering standards for high-performance distributed systems.
• Identify systemic performance problems across services and drive cross-team remediation.
• Work closely with Backend, Platform, DevOps, SRE, and Data teams on high-impact performance initiatives.
• Establish measurable performance goals and use data to validate improvements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, Platform Engineering, Backend Engineering, or Solution Architecture.

What You Bring

• Deep expertise in application performance tuning and distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and caching technologies.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, connection pooling, compression, load balancing, TCP/IP, and HTTP protocols.
• Experience with performance testing and observability tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, Prometheus,Grafana, Datadog, or similar.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proven track record of solving large-scale performance bottlenecks.
