Job summary
NielsenIQ is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Chennai to lead AI-driven backend development with deep Python expertise. You will design autonomous agents, work with LLMs and agentic frameworks, and own microservices from design to production.

Qualifications
- B.Sc in Computer Sciences or similar.
- At least 10 years of Python backend development experience.
- Extensive prompt engineering and optimization (3+ years).
- Strong knowledge of OOP and design patterns.
- Experience with server-side tech such as FastAPI, Pydantic, Alembic.
- Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- Expertise in testing methodologies (Unit testing, TDD, mocking).
- Relational databases (SQL) proficiency.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Self‑motivated and eager to push changes and develop with us.
- 3+ years building agentic AI systems; experience with agent frameworks (AutoGen, LangChain).
- Knowledge of Azure OpenAI Service and Azure AI services; understanding of ReAct and Chain‑of‑Thought.
Responsibilities
- Design and build autonomous AI agents capable of multi-step reasoning and task execution.
- Improve and develop SDLC processes per AI vision.
- Work with LLMs and agentic frameworks (AutoGen, LangChain, Microsoft Agent Framework).
- Implement microservices from design to production.
- Own development, testing strategy, design discussions, and operations of the team with containerized API services.
- Participate in agile software development including design, implementation, and deployment.
- Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of new product features/components.
- Ensure performance, uptime and scale; maintain high code quality and thoughtful design.
- Collaborate with a small cross-functional team to drive product growth.
- Learn new tools, languages, workflows and philosophies to grow.
- Research and suggest new technologies to boost the product.
- Influence system architecture, development practices and key technical decisions.

- Fluent with Relational databases (SQL)
- Good problem‑solving and analysis abilities

- Experience with agent frameworks and orchestration tools (AutoGen, LangChain, CrewAI or similar)

- Knowledge of tool use and function calling in AI systems
- Experience with agent evaluation and testing methodologies
- Understanding of agent safety, reliability, and error handling
- Experience in Java backend development

- Experience with Azure / GCP cloud services
- Experience with large scale SQL / NoSQL databases (SingleStore, Postgres)
