Job summary

Pompee VFX Animation Studios in Kochi is seeking a dedicated Prep and Paint Artist to clean up plates, remove unwanted elements, and prepare shots for compositing. You will perform frame-by-frame paint work, patch creation, roto-prep support, and maintain continuity across sequences.

Collaborate with a team of compositors, CG artists and supervisors, follow studio pipelines, participate in reviews, and respond constructively to feedback to deliver production-ready assets on schedule.

Qualifications

• Strong painting and cleanup skills for digital plates and wire/rig removal.
• Solid artistic foundation: color, light, composition, and visual detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary VFX teams.
• Portfolio or showreel demonstrating prep and paint work is highly beneficial.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Prep and Paint Artist role based in Kochi. The Prep and Paint Artist will clean up plates, remove unwanted elements, and prepare shots for compositing using industry-standard tools and workflows. Responsibilities include frame-by-frame paint work, patch creation, roto-prep support, and maintaining visual continuity across sequences. The role involves close collaboration with compositors, CG artists, and supervisors to meet creative goals, resolve technical challenges, and deliver high-quality, production-ready assets on schedule. The artist will also follow studio pipelines, attend review sessions, and respond constructively to feedback.

Qualifications

• Strong paint and painting skills, with experience in digital cleanup, wire/rig removal, and plate preparation.
• Solid artistic foundation, including understanding of color, light, composition, and visual detail in art and animation.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary VFX and animation teams.
• Proficiency with relevant VFX/paint tools (e.g., Nuke, Photoshop, Silhouette, or comparable software).
• Ability to follow established pipelines, manage time effectively, and maintain consistency across multiple shots.
• Previous production experience in VFX or animation is preferred; a portfolio or showreel demonstrating prep and paint work is highly beneficial.
• Relevant education in animation, fine arts, visual effects, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
