Job summary

Techmezine in Vadodara, Gujarat, is seeking a junior Power Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our R&D team. You will gain exposure to hardware development for industrial and power electronics products, assist with architecture, and participate in design activities for power electronics applications.

You will design, test, and validate hardware circuits, support schematic capture and PCB reviews using Altium, and perform simulations with PSIM and OrCAD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • 0-1 year of experience in power electronics hardware design and development.
  • Exposure to hardware design of power electronics products like converters, inverters, and VFDs.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools, especially Altium.
  • Hands-on with PSIM and OrCAD simulations.
  • Good grasp of analog and digital circuits, gate drivers, magnetics, and power stages.
  • Experience in schematic design, PCB layout reviews, debugging, and validation testing.
  • Familiarity with lab instruments like oscilloscopes, generators, multimeters, and power analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Support schematic design, PCB review, and hardware integration for projects.
  • Work with ECAD tools, mainly Altium, for schematic capture and PCB design support.
  • Perform simulation and analysis using PSIM and OrCAD.
  • Assist in design/development of hardware for VFDs, power converters, and motor control products.
  • Participate in prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation testing.
  • Conduct engineering analysis to assess concepts, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, testing, and systems teams during development and integration.
  • Participate in FMEA, risk assessment, and design reviews.
  • Prepare and maintain design docs, test reports, verification records, and change documents.
  • Coordinate with product management, manufacturing, quality, customers, marketing, and sales for technical support.
  • Stay proactive in understanding roadmaps and continuously improve technical knowledge.
  • Develop understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal management, safety standards, and reliability in design.
  • Familiarize with product development lifecycle and engineering release processes.
  • Work with firmware/software teams on embedded power electronics systems.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Carry out technical feasibility studies and assist with hardware architecture and design activities for power electronics applications.
  • Design, develop, test, and validate power electronics hardware circuits and subsystems.
  • Support schematic design, component selection, PCB review, and hardware integration for power electronics projects.
  • Work with ECAD tools, mainly Altium, for schematic capture and PCB design support.
  • Perform simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and subsystems using tools like PSIM and OrCAD.
  • Assist in the design and development of hardware for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power converters, and motor control products.
  • Participate in prototype bring-up, debugging, design verification, and validation testing.
  • Conduct engineering analysis to assess product concepts, design performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, testing, and system engineering teams throughout product development and integration.
  • Take part in FMEA, risk assessment, and design review activities.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation, test reports, verification records, and engineering change documents.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years) or an integrated 4+2-year Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
  • 0-1 year of experience in power electronics hardware design and development.
  • Practical exposure to hardware design and development of power electronics products such as power converters, inverters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Proficiency in ECAD tools, particularly Altium.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation and design tools like PSIM and OrCAD.
  • Good understanding of analog and digital circuits, gate driver circuits, magnetics, power stages, protection circuits, and control hardware.
  • Experience in schematic design, PCB layout review, hardware debugging, and validation testing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, power analyzers, and similar test equipment.
  • Knowledge of motor control systems and power conversion technologies will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in preparing design, testing, and verification documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, testing, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
