Job summary

Gantec Corporation in Chennai is seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant to support a cloud data-platform migration and optimize reporting environments. The role combines hands-on Power BI development, production support, and stakeholder engagement to deliver reliable, scalable analytics.

You will develop data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations while ensuring data accuracy, security, and performance across reporting layers. This is a full-time on-site role in Chennai.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of business intelligence or analytics experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development and production support.
• Strong experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and semantic data modelling.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform.
• Experience with refresh schedules, gateways, workspaces, permissions, and row-level security.
• Experience supporting a migration, go-live, or production stabilization period.
• Proven ability to gather requirements directly from business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support Power BI reports and dashboards during go-live, stabilization, and day-to-day operations.
• Investigate and resolve data, refresh, access, security, performance, and reporting issues.
• Validate reports, semantic models, calculations, data accuracy, and security after platform changes.
• Develop and enhance dashboards, data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
• Optimize report performance, dataset refreshes, data models, SQL queries, and Snowflake usage.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.
• Work with stakeholders to define KPIs, priorities, acceptance criteria, and improvement needs.
• Manage defects and enhancements from initial analysis through testing, deployment, and support.
• Coordinate with data engineering, platform, security, and business teams.
• Maintain documentation, support procedures, and a prioritized improvement backlog.
• Support user acceptance testing, production releases, and business sign-off.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Consultant to support a business-critical reporting environment following a cloud data-platform migration. The role combines hands-on Power BI development, production support, performance optimization, functional analysis, and business stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Power BI reports and dashboards during go-live, stabilization, and day-to-day operations.
• Investigate and resolve data, refresh, access, security, performance, and reporting issues.

• Strong experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and semantic data modelling.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform.
• Experience with refresh schedules, gateways, workspaces, permissions, and row-level security.
• Ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies and performance issues across reporting and data layers.
• Experience supporting a migration, go-live, or production stabilization period.
• Proven ability to gather requirements directly from business stakeholders.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and ownership skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both business and technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

• Power BI Premium or Microsoft Fabric experience.
• Snowflake query and warehouse optimization.
• DirectQuery, composite models, and incremental refresh.
• Deployment pipelines, version control, and release management.
• Experience with DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Power BI APIs, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change-management processes.

Certification Requirements

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
• SnowPro Core Certification
• ITIL and ITSM Foundation for production-support experience.
