Job summary

Saman Tea in Mundra/Kandla seeks a field-ready port logistics supervisor to oversee container stuffing, ensure quality, and report daily with photos. You will coordinate with supplier and refinery teams, inspect containers, and liaise with port authorities and agencies.

The role demands field days, weekend work when vessel cut-offs approach, and travel between Mundra and Kandla. Fluency in Gujarati and Hindi, plus basic English, is required.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of hands-on experience at a port, CFS, ICD, or with a CHA / freight forwarder / exporter, with direct experience of supervising container stuffing.
• Must own a two-wheeler (or car) and hold a valid driving licence. Frequent travel between Mundra and Kandla (approx. 60 km) and availability at either port on short notice.
• Based in — or willing to relocate to — Gandhidham / Adipur / Anjar / Mundra.
• Fluent in Gujarati and Hindi; basic English sufficient for email reporting.
• Comfortable with WhatsApp, email and MS Excel; able to take clear photographs and file readable, accurate reports.
• Genuinely a field job: long hours outdoors at port and CFS yards, including odd hours and weekends when a vessel cut-off is close.

Responsibilities

• Supervise transloading — be physically present for destuffing of coastal containers and restuffing into export containers at the CFS / ICD / port.
• Tally and quality check — verify carton/tin/bottle count and report shortages or damages with photographs.
• Container inspection before stuffing — ensure export containers are food-grade fit, dry, clean and sound.
• Record and verify container numbers, line seals and customs seal numbers against documents.
• Coordinate daily with supplier/refinery teams for material readiness and scheduling.
• Liaise with CHA, transporter, CFS, shipping line and inspection agencies; monitor required forms and gate-ins.
• Track detention, demurrage, and container cut-offs to avoid losses.
• Attend third-party inspections (e.g., Bureau Veritas / SGS) when needed.
• Submit daily written reports with photos to Kolkata head office: containers stuffed/pending, issues, next-day plan.
• Handle local work at Mundra/Kandla incl. document submission and labour coordination.

Job description

Key responsibilities

• 1. Supervise transloading — be physically present for the destuffing of coastal containers and the restuffing of cargo into export containers at the CFS / ICD / port. No stuffing to happen unsupervised.
• 2. Tally and quality check — verify carton / tin / bottle count against the packing list, maintain a tally sheet, and immediately report shortage, damage, leakage or wet cartons with photographs.
• 3. Container inspection before stuffing — check export containers for food-grade fitness: dry, clean, odour-free, no holes (light test), sound door gaskets. Reject unfit containers and demand replacement.
• 4. Seals and numbers — record and cross-verify container numbers, line seal and customs seal numbers against the documents.
• 5. Supplier coordination — coordinate daily with the supplier / refinery teams at Kandla–Mundra (Emami Agrotech, Gokul Agro) for material readiness, delivery orders and pick-up scheduling.
• 6. Port and agency coordination — liaise with the CHA, transporter, CFS, shipping line and inspection agencies; follow up on Form 13 / gate-in, VGM, shipping bill, LEO and container placement.
• 7. Protect against detention and demurrage — track free days, gate-in cut-offs and vessel cut-offs, and elevate early so that no container is shut out and no detention, demurrage or ground rent is incurred.
• 8. Third-party inspection — attend loading supervision, sampling and inspection with agencies such as Bureau Veritas / SGS where required.
• 9. Daily reporting — send a written daily report with photographs to the Kolkata head office: containers stuffed, containers pending, issues raised, and next-day plan.
• 10. Local work at Mundra / Kandla — document collection and submission, labour gang coordination, follow-up with port and CFS offices, and any other work assigned by the company at the location.
