Job summary

Virat MEP Services is seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager for high-rise residential and commercial projects. You will lead planning, subcontractor hiring, material procurement, on-site supervision, quality control, testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring projects meet specifications, safety standards and timelines.

The role requires strong leadership, coordination across civil, electrical and HVAC teams, and the ability to read drawings, review BOQs, and manage vendors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical or related engineering.
• ITI in Plumbing or related trade; strong project management experience may qualify.
• Practical experience in plumbing execution for high-rise residential/commercial projects.
• Experience managing site teams, subcontractors, materials and project schedules.
• Ability to read plumbing drawings, review BOQs and coordinate with clients/consultants.
• Knowledge of plumbing testing, commissioning and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Review approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, project schedules and site conditions before starting work.
• Prepare project schedules, work plans and activity-wise targets.
• Monitor daily and weekly progress, identify delays and take corrective action to meet deadlines.
• Provide regular project updates to management and attend review meetings.
• Identify site clashes and obtain clarifications and approvals.
• Identify, evaluate and hire suitable plumbing subcontractors based on project requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor productivity, workmanship and progress against targets.
• Guide site engineers, supervisors, plumbers and technicians on installation methods and resolve technical problems.
• Work with civil, electrical, HVAC and other contractors to ensure smooth site execution.
• Prepare material requirements, obtain quotations, arrange approvals and purchase materials for timely delivery.
• Monitor material receipt, storage, issue and usage; maintain records to minimise shortages and wastage.
• Inspect plumbing installations, arrange inspections, close punch points and NC observations.
• Supervise pressure testing, leakage testing, flushing and other required tests.
• Maintain daily/weekly progress reports, inspection requests, test records and project documents.
• Manage final testing, client inspections, handover documents and project close-out.

The candidate will be responsible for project planning, subcontractor hiring, material procurement, site supervision, quality control, billing, testing, commissioning and handover.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Project planning and execution

• Review approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, project schedules and site conditions before starting work.
• Prepare project schedules, work plans and activity-wise targets.
• Monitor daily and weekly progress, identify delays and take corrective action to meet project deadlines.
• Provide regular project updates to management and attend review meetings.

Plumbing systems

• Supervise the installation, testing and commissioning of:
  
• Domestic water supply and distribution systems
• Soil, waste, vent and sanitary drainage systems
• Rainwater and stormwater drainage systems
• Hot water and flushing water systems
• Sumps, overhead tanks, pumps and associated piping
• External water supply and drainage networks
• Plumbing connections to sewage treatment plants (STPs)
• Sanitary fixtures, fittings and related equipment
• Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications and applicable standards.
• Identify site clashes and technical issues and obtain the necessary clarifications and approvals.

Subcontractor and site management

• Identify, evaluate and hire suitable plumbing subcontractors based on project requirements.
• Allocate work to site teams and subcontractors based on project priorities.
• Monitor subcontractor productivity, workmanship and progress against targets.
• Guide site engineers, supervisors, plumbers and technicians on installation methods and resolve day-to-day technical problems.
• Work with civil, electrical, HVAC and other contractors to ensure smooth site execution.

Material planning and procurement

• Prepare material requirements based on approved drawings, BOQs and project schedules.
• Obtain quotations, arrange material approvals and purchase materials for timely delivery.
• Monitor material receipt, storage, issue and usage at site.
• Maintain material records and reconcile quantities to minimise shortages, delays and wastage.

Quality, safety and documentation

• Inspect plumbing installations and ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
• Arrange inspections with clients and consultants, and close punch points, defects and NCR observations.
• Supervise pressure testing, leakage testing, flushing and other required tests.
• Ensure site teams follow project health and safety requirements, including toolbox talks and safe working practices.
• Maintain daily and weekly progress reports, inspection requests, test records and other project documents.
• Support quantity verification, subcontractor bills, running account (RA) bills and variation records.
• Manage final testing, client inspections, handover documents and project close-out.

Education and Experience

• Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or a related engineering discipline.
• ITI in Plumbing or a related trade may also be considered for candidates with strong, relevant project management experience.
• Practical experience in plumbing execution for high-rise residential or commercial projects.
• Experience managing site teams, subcontractors, materials and project schedules.
• Ability to read plumbing drawings, review BOQs and work with clients and consultants.
• Knowledge of plumbing testing, commissioning and applicable project standards.
