Job summary

Proxelera in Bengaluru/Hyderabad seeks a Platform Software & Validation Engineer to develop BIOS, UEFI, and firmware for AI chips and networking silicon. You will work closely with hardware teams to validate on real hardware and drive test automation to ease fault diagnosis.

You should be adept at debugging on limited-visibility hardware, and comfortable taking ownership of post-silicon bring-up to impact performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience developing firmware for BIOS/UEFI or similar firmware layers.
• Ability to debug on real hardware with limited visibility (JTAG/trace/crash dumps).
• Strong understanding of one stack layer (firmware, kernel or drivers).

Responsibilities

ABOUT PROXELERA

Proxelera does end-to-end chip design from India, specification through silicon. Most chip companies use their India centres for validation or one slice of the process. Proxelera was built on the opposite idea: the whole system, owned ground up, in country. Over 190 engineers across the Bengaluru and Mysuru design centres, working on AI, DSP, AMS and wireless networking silicon.

THE ROLE

You will build the software that makes Proxelera's AI chips and networking silicon usable: BIOS, UEFI, firmware, Linux kernel and drivers, all against real hardware.

THE WORK

• Own development and validation of BIOS, UEFI and firmware, making sure the chips perform in real-world conditions.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to debug and validate software on actual hardware, with limited visibility.
• Drive test automation and tooling that makes future failures easier to diagnose.
• Take on post-silicon validation and bring-up, directly affecting product performance and reliability.
• Make the call on whether a failure belongs to your layer, which takes a real understanding of the stack.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Strong C and data structures, in systems that run on real hardware.
• Experience debugging on hardware with limited visibility, using JTAG, trace and crash dumps.
• Solid command of one layer of the stack, whether firmware, kernel and drivers, or platform validation.
• Python or shell scripting for automation, with a focus on making failures reproducible.

EVEN BETTER IF

• You have contributed upstream or have a public patch trail, particularly in BIOS, UEFI or graphics drivers.
• You are familiar with protocols and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, PCIe and USB.
• You have done customer-facing debugging and been the point of contact during critical failures.
