Job summary

JVG Consulting is seeking a Manager - Safety for our manufacturing client in Karnataka. The role develops and implements the occupational health and safety system, ensures legal compliance, and drives risk reduction across the plant.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years in industrial safety (3–5 in leadership), a Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in engineering and a Diploma or PG in Industrial Safety, with knowledge of Kannada preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• A recognized Diploma or PG in Industrial Safety from a recognized University.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the OHS system across the manufacturing complex.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Manager - Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the occupational health and safety system across the manufacturing complex. The position ensures safe plant operations, legal compliance, effective risk control, emergency preparedness, and prevention of injuries, fires, explosions, chemical releases, and property damage.

Desired Qualification

• Diploma / B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering,/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering,
• A recognized Diploma or PG in Industrial Safety from recognized University.

Technical Skills sets & other requirements

• Occupational health and safety legislation and factory-safety requirements.
• Occupational health and safety management systems.
• Environmental hazards and controls, local regulations & reporting requirements
• Hazard identification, risk assessment, Job Safety Analysis, HAZOP, and management of change.
• Permit-to-work, confined-space entry, works at height, lifting operations, and lockout/tag out.
• Fire prevention, emergency response, ethanol and chemical safety, and combustible-dust hazards.
• Boiler, turbine, electrical, pressure-vessel, material-handling, and machine-guarding safety.
• Accident investigation, root-cause analysis, safety statistics, and corrective-action management.
• Industrial hygiene, PPE selection, safety data sheets, and occupational-health surveillance.

Desired Experience

8-12 years of industrial safety experience, including at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial position.

Experience in a sugar factory, distillery, ethanol plant, cogeneration plant, chemical plant, or other process industry and working knowledge of Kannada is preferred.

Practical experience in plant shutdowns, construction safety, contractor management, incident investigation, emergency drills, and statutory inspections is expected
