Antal International is seeking a Plant Maintenance Manager in Bengaluru, India. The ideal candidate has a relevant engineering degree and 8-10 years of experience in maintenance engineering. Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance and project management is essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, safety manuals, and SOPs.
  • Proficiency in preparing maintenance reports, CAPEX proposals, and technical correspondence.

Job description

Our client, a leading player in the food ingredients industry, is looking to hire a Plant Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and engineering operations.

Role: Maintenance Manager
Reports to: Plant Manager
Purpose of the Position

The Plant Maintenance Manager ensures all equipment, utilities, and infrastructure are maintained to support uninterrupted production, with a focus on minimizing downtime, improving reliability, and driving cost‑effective maintenance. The role also leads CAPEX initiatives, implements engineering improvements, ensures statutory compliance, and promotes safety and environmental sustainability.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure 100% readiness of plant machinery, utilities, and facility infrastructure to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Develop preventive & predictive maintenance plans; ensure execution through supervisors and external service providers.
  • Evaluate equipment performance, identify gaps, and implement engineering improvements.
  • Establish effective spare parts management and vendor service contracts.
  • Design/specify equipment and facility infrastructure solutions to improve plant capacity and productivity.
  • Prepare detailed Engineering Assessments (EA), project proposals, and cost‑benefit analyses.
  • Drive end‑to‑end project execution: procurement, installation, contractor management, and commissioning.
  • Ensure CAPEX projects are delivered within approved budget, scope, and timelines.
  • Oversee and control annual maintenance budgets, ensuring optimal utilization.
  • Track repair and maintenance expenses, identify overspend risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive productivity, energy savings, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and monitor plant safety programs, procedures, and culture.
  • Ensure safety equipment and infrastructure comply with statutory requirements and internal standards.
  • Support the Plant Safety Committee and drive location‑specific safety improvements.
  • Manage environmental sustainability initiatives in line with global environmental goals.
  • Maintain all statutory registers, licenses, records, and interface with regulators during audits.
  • Lead Maintenance Supervisors, technicians, and external contractors.
  • Foster teamwork within engineering and production teams to address equipment challenges collaboratively.
Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation preferred).
  • Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in maintenance engineering in food, pharma, FMCG, or related processing industry.
  • Proven exposure to preventive & predictive maintenance, utilities, and CAPEX project implementation.
  • Experience working in ERP environments (SAP / other ERP tools).
  • Strong ability to interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, safety manuals, and SOPs.
  • Proficiency in preparing maintenance reports, CAPEX proposals, and technical correspondence.
  • Strong reasoning and problem‑solving skills to manage non‑standard work situations.
