Job summary

Kan Biosys Pvt. Ltd. in Pune district seeks a senior operations leader to manage end-to-end plant operations, including fermentation, downstream processing, formulation, packaging, and dispatch.

You will drive continuous improvement, ensure target achievement and maintain compliance across GMP/ISO standards. The role requires extensive experience in fermentation/bioprocess manufacturing, with strong leadership across R&D, QA/QC, Regulatory, Procurement, and Finance.

Qualifications

• Must have 15+ years of plant/manufacturing experience with fermentation/bioprocessing.
• Minimum 8 years in leading a multifunctional manufacturing facility.
• MBA in Operations desirable for process leadership.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end plant operations including fermentation, downstream processing, formulation, packaging, warehousing and dispatch.
• Ensure production targets, product quality, yield and timely delivery.
• Monitor fermentation performance, CFU/spore counts, biomass yield and contamination control.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee plant maintenance, equipment reliability, utilities and calibration.
• Lead plant expansion, automation and new product introduction projects.
• Coordinate with R&D, QA, QC, Regulatory, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance and HR.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end plant operations, including fermentation, downstream processing, formulation, packaging, warehousing and dispatch.
• Ensure production targets, product quality, yield and timely delivery.
• Monitor fermentation performance, CFU/spore counts, biomass yield and contamination control.
• Manage production planning, capacity utilization and manufacturing costs.
• Ensure compliance with FCO, applicable CIB&RC requirements, GMP principles and ISO standards.
• Implement EHS, biosafety, quality and regulatory compliance systems.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee plant maintenance, equipment reliability, utilities and calibration.
• Manage plant budgets, CAPEX, inventory, manpower productivity and cost optimization.
• Lead plant expansion, automation and new product introduction projects.
• Coordinate with R&D, QA, QC, Regulatory, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance and HR.
• Monitor plant KPIs and develop a highperformance manufacturing team.

Qualification : -

• B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• M.Tech. / M.Sc. in Biotechnology or Microbiology preferred.
• MBA in Operations desirable.

Work experience : -

• Min: 15 years | Max: 20 years, including at least 8 years in fermentation or bioprocess manufacturing and 5 years leading a multifunctional manufacturing facility.
