Job Purpose
To establish, monitor, and control project schedules for the Thermal Power Project by coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), Owners Engineer, contractors, and site teams.
The role is responsible for planning, progress measurement, forecasting, critical path monitoring, delay analysis, MIS reporting, and supporting timely project completion within approved cost, quality, safety, and schedule targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain Package ,integrated project schedules (Level-1, Level-2, Level-3 and detailed schedules) preferably in Primavera/ MS Projects.
- Monitor engineering, procurement, construction, testing, & commissioning schedules.
- Establish Package schedule baselines and update schedules periodically.
- Support development of recovery plans for delayed activities.
- Analyze schedule slippages and recommend mitigation measures.
2. MIS & Reporting
- Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR), Weekly Progress Reports (WPR), and Monthly Progress Reports (MPR).
- Develop executive dashboards and management presentations.
- Generate S-Curves, productivity reports, and milestone tracking reports.
- Maintain project progress databases and planning records.
- Track key project KPIs and performance metrics.
3. Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, Owner's Engineer, consultants, vendors & site teams.
- Review contractor schedules and progress reports.
- Participate in progress review meetings & prepare Agenda and MOM.
- Follow up on action items affecting project milestones.
- Support interface management among BTG, BOP, and owner's obligation activities.
4. Progress Monitoring & Control
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly project progress.
- Measure physical progress against the approved baseline.
- Monitor critical path and near-critical activities.
- Conduct variance analysis and forecast project completion dates.
- Identify schedule risks and flag issues.
- Validate contractor-reported progress and productivity.
5. Owner's Obligations Monitoring
- Track land acquisition, statutory approvals, site enabling works, access roads, construction power, construction water, and other owner-driven activities.
- Maintain owner obligation registers and milestone trackers.
- Ensure timely escalation of potential delays.
6. Risk & Delay Management
- Maintain project risk register.
- Perform schedule risk analysis and impact assessments.
- Prepare delay analysis reports.
- Support preparation of recovery schedules and acceleration plans.
- Support in claims and extension-of-time evaluations.
7. Digital Systems & Documentation
- Update schedule in Primavera and update inputs for PMIS systems.
- Maintain planning documentation, schedule revisions, and historical records.
- Ensure consistency between schedule, progress, and reporting systems.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in EPC project planning and controls, 500 MW and above Thermal Power, Power Generation, Refinery, Petrochemical, Steel, or Infrastructure projects.
