Job summary

Capstone Building Services Consultants is seeking experienced PHE & Fire Design Engineers to join our MEP Design team in Chennai. The role involves hands-on design of plumbing, public health engineering and fire protection systems for building projects, with readiness to travel to site locations.

Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of codes and standards and experience in designing water supply, sanitary, drainage, sprinkler and fire protection layouts.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Civil Engineering degree is required.
• Experience designing plumbing, public health and/or fire protection systems.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• PHE and plumbing design for building projects, including water supply, sanitary and drainage systems.
• Design and size wet risers, fire protection layouts and fire water pump systems.
• Coordinate fire alarm, smoke detection, gas-based suppression and voice evacuation systems.
• Prepare 2D drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams and BOQs with budget estimates.
• Stay updated with applicable codes and standards; willingness to travel to project sites.

Qualification:

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering

Role Overview:

We are looking for experienced PHE & Fire Design Engineers to join our MEP Design team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience in designing plumbing, public health engineering and/or fire protection systems for building projects, along with a good understanding of applicable codes and standards. This role requires willingness to travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities

1. PHE & Plumbing Design

• Collect project requirements and prepare design basis reports and load estimates.
• Design and develop plumbing systems including:
• Water supply and distribution
• Sanitary and drainage systems
• Rainwater and stormwater management
• Hot water systems - Solar / Heat Pump
• RO and water treatment systems
• Sewage / wastewater treatment systems
• Water storage and pumping systems
• Prepare water load estimates, water balance sheets and storage requirements.
• Design and size UG sumps, OHTs, pumps and associated systems.

Stay updated on relevant codes, standards and industry practices.

• Design wet riser, downcomer and yard hydrant systems.
• Design automatic sprinkler systems and fire water pump systems.
• Develop fire protection layouts, pipe sizing and hydraulic requirements.
• Coordinate requirements for fire alarm, smoke detection, gas‑based suppression and voice evacuation/PA systems.
• Perform travel distance and fire safety compliance checks as applicable.

Stay updated on relevant codes, standards and industry practices.

3. Drawings & Documentation

• Prepare and review 2D design drawings, layouts, schematics/single-line diagrams, sections and elevations.
• Prepare Material Take-Offs (MTO), BOQs, quantity take-offs, technical specifications and budgetary estimates.

Software Skills:

Project Experience:

Candidates with experience in the following project sectors will be preferred: Hotels | Hospitals | Office Buildings | IT Fit‑outs | Apartments | Residential | Commercial | Industrial Buildings

Location Preference:

Candidates currently based in Chennai and Tamil Nadu will be preferred. Candidates from other locations who are willing to relocate to Chennai may also be considered.
