Job summary

Surbana Jurong in Mumbai is seeking an experienced PHE & Fire Fighting Design Engineer to join the MEP design team. You will deliver Plumbing, PHE and Fire Fighting designs for diverse building projects, coordinating with architecture, structure, electrical and HVAC disciplines.

The candidate should have 5–10 years of relevant experience, a strong grasp of NBC, IS Codes and NFPA, and proficiency in AutoCAD with BIM experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant PHE, Plumbing and Fire Fighting design experience.
• Strong knowledge of building services design and MEP coordination.
• Hands-on AutoCAD; Revit MEP/BIM preferred.
• Good understanding of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA and other standards.
• Experience with design software tools and engineering calculations.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer PHE, Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems for building projects.
• Prepare calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
• Develop layouts, schematics and detailed design documentation.
• Design water supply, drainage, stormwater, sewage and harvesting systems.
• Design fire protection systems (hydrants, sprinklers, hoses, pumping).
• Carry out hydraulic calculations and sizing of pipes, pumps, tanks, equipment.
• Coordinate designs with other MEP disciplines and BIM models.
• Ensure designs comply with codes and local authority requirements.
• Support tender docs, BOQs, specs and technical submissions.
• Review drawings from junior engineers and BIM teams.
• Participate in design coordination meetings with clients and contractors.
• Provide technical support during project execution.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced PHE & Fire Fighting Design Engineer to join our MEP design team in Mumbai. The candidate will be responsible for the design, engineering, coordination, and delivery of Plumbing, Public Health Engineering (PHE), and Fire Fighting systems for a variety of building projects, including commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, and infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineering of PHE, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems for building projects.
• Prepare design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Develop system layouts, schematic diagrams, and detailed design documentation.
• Design water supply, drainage, stormwater, sewage, and rainwater harvesting systems.
• Design fire protection systems, including fire hydrant, sprinkler, hose reel, fire water storage, and pumping systems.
• Carry out hydraulic calculations and sizing of pipes, pumps, tanks, and associated equipment.
• Coordinate PHE and Fire Fighting designs with Architecture, Structural, Electrical, HVAC, and other MEP disciplines.
• Review and coordinate BIM/Revit models and CAD drawings to ensure design integration and clash-free deliverables.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable Indian and international codes, standards, and local authority requirements.
• Support project teams in preparing tender documentation, BOQs, specifications, and technical submissions.
• Review drawings and technical submissions from junior engineers and BIM/modeling teams.
• Participate in design coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide technical support during project execution and resolve design-related issues.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed quality, budget, and schedule requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical / civil engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in PHE, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting design and engineering.
• Strong knowledge of building services design and MEP coordination.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP/BIM is preferred.
• Good understanding of relevant NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, and other applicable international standards.
• Experience in design software and engineering calculation tools will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience in handling large-scale and complex building projects will be preferred.
