Job summary

Apollo Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Trainee to assist the Pharmacist with dispensing medicines, checking bills and managing stock. You will counsel patients, handle inbound drug information calls, and support free home delivery orders while maintaining cash handling accuracy.

You will ensure proper storage, routine stock tallies, and orderly inventory, collaborating with stores and the DC for emergency stock. The role emphasizes customer service and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Cross check the issuing medicines with the bill concerning patient name, item name, quantity, expiry and acknowledge the bill.
  • Check the availability of stock in the pharmacy and, based on the availability, raise the indent for the stock.
  • Counsel patients on health and medicines, maintain good relations with customers/doctors, and manage the free home delivery register.
  • Handle all inbound calls focusing on drug information, patient counseling/education, and free home delivery orders; address patient queries.
  • Handle cash at the billing counter as required.
  • Store drugs under proper refrigeration and ensure correct quantity, MRP, batch number and expiry checks; update bills and collect cash.
  • Enter stocks in computer and coordinate stock transfers with nearby pharmacies; communicate with the distribution center for emergency stock; maintain records for out-of-stock items.
  • Ensure that 100% physical stock is tallied by category twice a week (Tablets, Syrups, Injections, Ointments, Liquids, etc.).
  • Perform daily rack-wise verification of fast-moving items.
  • Ensure smooth shift hand-over and take-over.
  • Focus on sales and strive to attain pharmacy targets.
  • Perform any other job assigned by the in-charge.

Job description

PHARMACY TRAINEE

Assist the Pharmacist in dispensing drugs according to a prescription issued by the doctor. In case the prescribed medicines are not available, arrange the same from the in‑house pharmacies for the honor of 100% prescription. Substitution of medicines is to be consulted with the doctor.

Responsibilities
  • Cross check the issuing medicines with the bill concerning patient name, item name, quantity, expiry and acknowledge the bill.
  • Check the availability of stock in the pharmacy and, based on the availability, raise the indent for the stock.
  • Customer Service: counsel patients/customers on health and the reaction of medicines, maintain good relations with customers/doctors, maintain the free home delivery register and follow‑up the medicine deliveries to the customers in time.
  • Handle all inbound calls primarily focusing on drug information, patient counseling/education, and free home delivery orders; also handle patient queries and issues concerning drug therapy and drug information.
  • Handle cash at the billing counter as and when required.
  • Cold Chain Management: store the drugs under proper conditions of refrigeration and security; prepare bills in computer and collect the cash; check quantity, MRP, batch number, and date of expiry of the received items from stores before entering into computer.
  • Inventory Management & Sales: enter stocks in computer and take the printout of receipt from stores (RS) for cross‑checking with item issue list from stores based on stock availability; import/export the stock from nearby pharmacies through BT (Branch Transfers); if a stock is not available at nearby pharmacies, directly communicate with DC – in charge and visit the DC to collect the necessary stock in case of emergency; maintain a record for out‑of‑stock items and follow‑up the same.
  • Ensure that 100% physical stock is tallied according to category (Tablets, Syrups, Injections, Fluids, Ointments, Liquids, Capsules, Powders, Drops, Surgicals, and Miscellaneous) twice a week.
  • Perform daily rack‑wise verification of fast‑moving items.
  • Ensure shift hand‑over and take‑over is given before leaving the work area.
  • Focus on sales and strive to attain the target of the pharmacy.
  • Perform any other job assigned by the in‑charge as per exigencies of work.
