Job summary

DR.KAMAKSHI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PVT. LTD., CHENNAI seeks a Pharmacist to dispense medications, review prescriptions, counsel patients, and maintain records in accordance with NABH, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and hospital policies.

The candidate should have D.Pharm or B.Pharm with freshers or up to 5 years of hospital/retail pharmacy experience, good communication, and familiarity with HIS/pharmacy software. Willingness to work in rotational shifts is required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) – mandatory.
  • Freshers or 1–5 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferred.
  • Knowledge of NABH standards and statutory pharmacy regulations.
  • Good communication and patient counseling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications accurately based on valid prescriptions.
  • Review prescriptions for completeness, dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and contraindications.
  • Provide medication counseling to patients regarding dosage, administration, storage, and possible side effects.
  • Maintain proper records of dispensing, controlled drugs, and narcotic medications as per statutory requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of medicines per guidelines.
  • Monitor expiry dates and remove expired or damaged medicines from stock.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels and coordinate with the purchase department for replenishment.
  • Receive, verify, and arrange medicines supplied by vendors.
  • Participate in stock verification, cycle counts, and annual inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with NABH standards, Pharmacy Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related queries.
  • Report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors as per hospital protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy.
  • Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of pharmacy reports.
  • Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Hospital Management.
