Job summary

Neilsoft invites a Public Health Fire protection Engineer with 1–5 years' experience to join our design team in India. You will work on building services design including water supply, sanitary systems, and fire protection for international projects across UK/US and other regions.

The role requires knowledge of NFPA/ BS codes, proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP and Navisworks, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Pune/ Ahmedabad based, on-site work with global clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering (Mechanical or Civil) with formal design exposure.
• Experience in building services design for commercial, healthcare or institutions.
• Knowledge of international codes and standards (NFPA, BS, IPC helpful).
• Strong ability to read architectural/structural drawings and perform piping calculations.
• Proficiency in BIM tools: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks; coordination with MEPF.

Responsibilities

• Study project specs and prepare deliverables with timelines.
• Develop water supply, sanitary and fire protection designs per standards.
• Coordinate with client and internal teams across regions (UK/US).
• Produce design checks, RSs, and QA/QC of drawings and models.
• Lead design tasks, mentor junior engineers and support project delivery.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Building services engineering experience from a design consultancy environment or a contractor with design & built environment. Any experience working on international projects will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of International Codes & Standards (IPC,ASPE,UPC, NFPA, UK Building Regulation, BS codes etc.).
• Knowledge of reading and understanding Architectural & Structural design & Drawings
• Must have excellent knowledge on performing different plumbing calculations including water supply pipe sizing, Sanitary pipe sizing, water heater sizing, storm water pipe sizing etc. for different building applications.
• Confident in designing of water supply system including water supply zoning based on pressure requirement, different type of pumping system, water filtration system, preparation of pump room layouts considering maintenance and operation spaces, booster pumping system, gravity system, water hammers, PRV , water heater sizing, water recirculation pump flow calculations etc.
• Confident in designing of Sanitary/drainage system including basement dewatering system, sump pit sizing, single stack system, two stack system, ventilation pipework, grease/oil interceptor sizing, selection of different type of traps , vent stack design , storm water vertical and horizontal pipe sizes etc.
• The experience in Natural gas pipe system, Medical gas services etc design will be added advantage.
• The candidate must be competent designing of high rise buildings, commercial , residential and healthcare buildings.
• Well versed with all equipment type & their selection including water heater, different type of plumbing and firefighting pumps, water filtration equipment’s etc.
• Experience in designing fire protection services like hydrant system, sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, inert gas suppression system using NFPA/ BS codes. Any experience with hydraulic calculations software’s will be an added advantage.
• Calculations, data sheets, equipment specifications, technical appraisals, reports, single line diagram will be preferred.
• Skills required on 2D & 3D drafting tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Naviswork Engineers with experience on Autodesk Revit MEP and Autodesk Naviswork - Mandatory
• Good understanding of coordination between different MEPF services as well as Architectural & Structural design from engineering & spatial coordination point of view.
• Experience of working on Common data environments like BLUEBEAM, BIM 360, Drop Box, ProjectWise (collaborative tools to work on a model)
• Worked on diff. building sectors - residential, commercial, institutional (schools, colleges), healthcare (hospitals), transportation (airports, bus stations, metro stations), data centres etc.
• Knowledge of mostly used plumbing and fire protection Engineering design concepts, practices, & procedures.
• Experience with Revit /CAD modelling/drafting of plumbing & Fire Protection services
• Basic Knowledge of Project phases & deliverables requirements against each project stage.
• Experience in review and QA/QC of Drawings etc.
• Experience in preparation of BOQ, Technical Specifications & Quantity Take-offs
• Should have skill to manage & prioritize while working on multiple tasks.
• Should have ability to perform under time pressure and ready to adapt project requirement changes with a positive attitude
• Should have good oral and written communication skills.
• Should be self-motivated, proactive and good team player.

Responsibilities

• Study the project Specification & other technical documents.
• Prepare Effort Estimation & List of Deliverables to be produced
• Input data review & prepare RFIs for insufficient data etc.
• To undertake mechanical building services design in the UK, US and international projects through good understanding of regulatory requirements and relevant standards
• Delivery of allocated technical assignments including Public Health Systems and Fire protection Systems
• To undertake design checks and reviews before issue
• Maintain good relationships with client’s key representative
• Contribute to the overall team development and growth through strategic inputs
• Team leadership / mentoring and line management duties
• Design management and ensuring consistent high quality design delivery
• Help generate repeat business from clients
