Job summary

Efficient Fire Service in India seeks an experienced Fire Protection Design Lead to manage multiple EPC projects. You will steer the design team, review hydrant, sprinkler, WMFD systems, and perform hydraulic calculations. You will engage with clients, consultants and PMCs while ensuring NBC/IS/NFPA compliance and timely deliverables.

Armed with 8-10 years in fire protection and strong leadership, you will drive value engineering, site coordination and documentation handover for complex projects.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection / Fire Fighting / MEP EPC projects.
• Experience independently handling design and engineering for multiple projects.
• Has managed a team of Design Engineers/Draftsmen.
• Strong knowledge of practical site execution in addition to design.
• Can interact with Clients, Consultants and PMCs independently.
• Understands commercial impact of engineering decisions and BOQ variations.
• Identifies design problems before they become site problems.
• Strong leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design & Engineering team for multiple Fire Protection EPC projects.
• Design and review Fire Hydrant, Sprinkler, Wet Riser, Fire Pumping, Fire Water Storage and Fire Alarm systems.
• Prepare/review hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, pipe sizing, fire-water demand and other engineering calculations.
• Review tender drawings, specifications, BOQs and client requirements.
• Prepare/review shop drawings, coordination drawings, schematics, riser diagrams, pump-room layouts and installation details.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, IS, NFPA, local Fire Authority requirements and project specifications.
• Coordinate with Clients, PMCs, Consultants, Architects, MEP Consultants and other agencies for technical approvals.
• Lead technical discussions and resolve consultant comments.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Site Engineers for technical and execution-related issues.
• Provide timely responses to RFIs and site queries.
• Review BOQ quantities against approved drawings and identify quantity variations early.
• Support Procurement in technical evaluation of pumps, valves, sprinklers, pipes, fire-alarm equipment and other project materials.
• Review vendor submissions and material datasheets.
• Carry out Value Engineering without compromising performance, safety or compliance.
• Control drawing revisions and ensure only approved/current drawings are used at site.
• Minimize design-related site rework through proper checking and coordination.
• Prepare As-Built Drawings and handover documentation.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, checklists and drawing controls.
• Lead, mentor and allocate work to Design Engineers, CAD Engineers and Draftsmen.
• Monitor project-wise drawing schedules, approvals and deliverables.
• Support Estimation/Tendering for technically complex projects.
