SLB in Navi Mumbai, India seeks a Petrophysicist to analyze well log data and core samples, interpret petrophysical data, and support reservoir characterization for development and production optimization.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, design logging programs, ensure data quality, and stay updated on the latest petrophysical methods and industry practices. 5–7 years of upstream oil & gas experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Geology/Geophysics/Geoscience or equivalent.
  • 5–7 years of experience in oil & gas upstream.
  • Strong knowledge of petrophysical interpretation and data quality.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze well log data and core samples to determine reservoir properties.
  • Utilize advanced petrophysical software to process and interpret data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for reservoir characterization and development planning.
  • Design and implement logging programs with quality control of data.

Job description

The Petrophysicist is responsible for assisting in delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable products and services to our customers. The job consults with operations groups as needed to support the area of expertise and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of product and service delivery and formally communicates findings. The Petrophysicist actively participates in promoting new technology and services offerings and supports the business line in risk management and applying lessons learned to improve job design and execution as related to the area of expertise. They provide real-time support to operations as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret well log data,core samples, and other petrophysical data to determine reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, saturation, lithology.
  • Utilize advanced petrophysical software and techniques to process, analyze, and interpret logging and core data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support reservoir characterization, development planning, and production optimization
  • Participate in the design and implementation of logging programs and ensure quality control of acquired data.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in petrophysical techniques, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support in the area of expertise throughout the Sales and Product and Service Delivery process.
  • Assist as required with the development of technical job designs for business line.
  • Assist with identifying areas where new and cost effective techniques can be applied.
  • Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
  • Consult with Design/Technical Engineer role as required to optimize the technical design.
  • Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation as related to the area of expertise.
  • Assist in evaluating technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders as related to the area of expertise.
  • Remain current on new technologies.
  • Maintain customer visibility through active participation in professional society activities and calls for papers.
  • Understand the competition’s technical offering.
  • Participate in external technical societies and communities.
  • Contribute, write and review technical publications.
  • Engage with local universities, Customer institutes and research organizations.

Additional Requirement Experience required:

  • Apply the latest technology and efficient workflows to generate petrophysical work processes.
  • Follow up well operations, propose and provide technical advice on data acquisition, coring, and testing operations.
  • Designing, supervising and evaluating data acquisition programs.
  • Evaluate and normalize field wide petrophysical data.
  • Train, mentor and develop the young professionals on relevant skills.
  • Ensuring optimal design and suitable technologies are selected for data acquisition.
  • Consult with relevant subject matter experts as required to optimize the technical design.
  • Experience in providing technical support throughout the service delivery process.

Educational qualifications: Master Of Science, Master. Tech. in Geology/ Geophysics/ Geoscience.

Professional Experience: 5 to 7 Years as Petrophysicist, with Oil & Gas upstream industry.
