Job summary

SLB in Navi Mumbai is seeking a Geologist to assist in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable subsurface services. The role involves consulting with operations, supporting continuous improvement, and promoting new technology.

You will provide real-time support, work with Petrel, and collaborate with teams to appraise reserves and identify well locations. Requires MSc/MTech/PhD in Geology and 5 years upstream oil and gas experience, with ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Master of Science, M.Tech or PhD in Geology required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as geologist or reservoir geologist or geo-modeler in upstream oil and gas.
• Experience with onshore and offshore oil & gas fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strong knowledge of geology and geophysics with experience in geomodelling workflows.
• Execute work independently on geological projects onshore and offshore.
• Provide technical support to operations and consult with SMEs to optimize designs.
• Quantify sub-surface uncertainty and assess reserves.
• Petrel expertise mandatory and used across projects.
• Identify opportunities for value-added services and new techniques.
• Support tender evaluation and technical design reviews.
• Engage with universities and research organisations.
• Assist in real-time incident response and field surveillance.
• Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.

Job description

The Geologist is responsible for assisting in delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable products and services to our customers. The job consults with operations groups as needed to support the area of expertise and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of product and service delivery and formally communicates findings. The Geologist actively participates in promoting new technology and services offerings and supports the PL in risk management and applying lessons learned to improve job design and execution as related to the area of expertise. They provide real-time support to operations as required.

Resposibilities:

• Strong knowledge of Geology and geophysics and must have experienced with Geomodelling workflows and able to execute the work independently.
• Must have been involved in several technical projects both onshore & offshore oil & gas fields.
• Working knowledge of Structural, Property Modeling & uncertainty analysis workflows
• Should be able to do prospect identification and de-risking, Proposing well locations.
• Resource/Reserve calculation.
• Working knowledge of Deterministic and Stochastic Modeling approaches.
• Should be able to integrate different domain information.
• Manages the sub-surface uncertainty through the anticipation of alternatives, quantifying exposure and maximizing reward.
• Consult with relevant subject matter experts as required to optimize the technical design.
• Experience in providing technical support throughout the service delivery process.
• Petrel Expertise Mandatory.
• Provide technical support in the area of expertise throughout the Sales and Product and Service Delivery process.
• Assist as required with the development of technical job designs for PLs.
• Assist with identifying areas where new and cost effective techniques can be applied.
• Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
• Consult with Design/Technical Engineer role as required to optimize the technical design.
• Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation as related to the area of expertise.
• Assist in evaluating technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders as related to the area of expertise.
• Remain current on new technologies.
• Maintain customer visibility through active participation in professional society activities and calls for papers.
• Understand the competition’s technical offering.
• Participate in external technical societies and communities.
• Contribute, write and review technical publications.
• Engage with local universities, Customer institutes and research organizations.

Experience and Education Qualification:
