Job summary

SLB in Navi Mumbai, India is seeking a Petrophysicist with 5-7 years of upstream oil & gas experience to analyze well logs and core data and determine reservoir properties.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, design logging programs, ensure data quality, and stay current with petrophysical advances while supporting client-facing projects.

This role requires travel and mentoring young professionals as part of professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Master Tech in Geology/Geophysics/Geoscience required.
  • 5–7 years of experience as a Petrophysicist in oil & gas upstream.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret well log data, core samples, and other petrophysical data to determine reservoir properties.
  • Utilize advanced petrophysical software and techniques to process, analyze, and interpret logging and core data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support reservoir characterization, development planning, and production optimization.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of logging programs and ensure quality control of acquired data.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in petrophysical techniques, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support throughout the Sales and Product and Service Delivery process.
  • Assist as required with the development of technical job designs for business line.
  • Assist with identifying areas where new and cost effective techniques can be applied.
  • Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
  • Consult with Design/Technical Engineer role as required to optimize the technical design.
  • Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation as related to the area of expertise.
  • Assist in evaluating technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders as related to the area of expertise.
  • Remain current on new technologies.
  • Maintain customer visibility through active participation in professional society activities and calls for papers.
  • Understand the competition’s technical offering.
  • Participate in external technical societies and communities.
  • Contribute, write and review technical publications.
  • Engage with local universities, Customer institutes and research organizations.

  • Utilize advanced petrophysical software and techniques to process, analyze, and interpret logging and core data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support reservoir characterization, development planning, and production optimization

Additional Requirement Experience required:
  • Apply the latest technology and efficient workflows to generate petrophysical work processes.
  • Follow up well operations, propose and provide technical advice on data acquisition, coring, and testing operations.
  • Designing, supervising and evaluating data acquisition programs.
  • Evaluate and normalize field wide petrophysical data.
  • Train, mentor and develop the young professionals on relevant skills.
  • Ensuring optimal design and suitable technologies are selected for data acquisition.
  • Consult with relevant subject matter experts as required to optimize the technical design.
  • Experience in providing technical support throughout the service delivery process.
