Job summary

BTVK Advisory, a Baker Tilly affiliate, is seeking a seasoned Fund Accountant to lead journal entries, cash reporting, and financial statements for private equity engagements in Bengaluru. You will oversee the quarterly and annual reporting, capital calls and distributions, and complex fund calculations while supporting client engagements.

Candidate should have 8+ years' experience, CPA preferred or in process, and strong analytics, with proficiency in Investran and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred or in process.
  • 8+ years of overall experience, incl. 5+ years in private equity fund accounting or fund administration.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Investran or similar; solid Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee journal entries, cash reporting, and financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage quarterly and annual financial reporting; review packages and variances.
  • Oversee investor capital statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and fund reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare/ review capital calls and distributions; assist with client inquiries.
  • Prepare/ review management fees, carried interest, waterfalls and other fund calculations.
  • Coordinate audits; work with auditors and engagement leadership as needed.
  • Maintain client investor portals; lead client engagements and special projects.
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor and develop Seniors, Associates, and Junior Associates; provide coaching.
  • Review team work for compliance with standards and client requirements.

Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, cash reporting, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, reviewing reporting packages, analyzing key variances, and providing findings and supporting information to the client-facing engagement team.
  • Oversee and review investor capital statements, general-ledger support schedules, account reconciliations, and other fund reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare and/or review capital call and distribution calculations and notices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable fund agreements. Support the client-facing engagement team by researching and providing information to assist in resolving complex client or investor inquiries.
  • Prepare and/or review management fees, carried interest, waterfall calculations, and other complex fund calculations, as applicable to assigned engagements.
  • Partner with the client-facing engagement team to support the timely and accurate delivery of fund accounting and reporting services, escalating technical or operational matters as appropriate.
  • Oversee and coordinate the preparation of audit schedules, confirmations, and supporting documentation, working with engagement leadership and external auditors as needed.
  • Support the maintenance of client investor portals, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and updated in a timely manner. Lead assigned client engagements and special projects, including appropriate client communication based on engagement needs. Support larger or more complex engagements through deliverable preparation, internal coordination, and collaboration with the client-facing engagement team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, standardize workflows, enhance quality, and support the timely delivery of client work.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Seniors, Associates, and Junior Associates by providing technical guidance, performance coaching, and career development support.
  • Review work performed by the team, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and client-specific requirements. Collaborate with senior leadership to support resource planning, operational initiatives, and continuous process improvements across engagements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; CPA license (or in process) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 5 years of relevant experience in private equity fund accounting or fund administration.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as Investran or similar; solid Excel skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engagement leadership, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Client interaction may be required based on engagement needs.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to support occasional travel (up to 5%) and additional projects as required.
