Job Title: PCB Design Engineer
Location: Bengaluru - Karnataka
Department: Hardware and Power Electronics Engineering
Employment Type: Contract
Experience Level: Mid level [3-5 Years]
Job Summary:
Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PCB Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between abstract electrical schematics and physical, high-performance hardware. You will be responsible for schematic capture, component footprint creation, multi-layer board routing, optimize component density and generating comprehensive manufacturing documentation
Key Responsibilities:
- PCB Layout & Routing: Design complex, multi-layer printed circuit board layouts incorporating high-speed digital, analog, and power electronics' components.
- Schematic & Library Management: Execute schematic capture and manage the central ECAD library by creating, verifying, and maintaining accurate schematic symbols and 2D/3D component footprints according to IPC standards.
- Design for Excellence (DFX): Perform strict Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Testing (DFT) checks to ensure low production defect rates and high yields.
- Signal & Power Integrity: Set up strict board constraint rules and room definitions (high voltage and high current differential pairs, length matching, HV strips) to preserve signal and power integrity while mitigating EMI/EMC issues.
- Collaboration & Reviews: Coordinate closely with Hardware Engineers, Mechanical Designers, and Team Lead to align board mechanical constraints, thermal constraints, and electrical requirements. Present designs in design reviews.
- Manufacturing Deliverables: Generate and deliver complete production packages, including Gerber files, ODB++, Bill of Materials (BOM), fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings.
- Vendor Management: Interface with external PCB fabrication and assembly houses to resolve technical queries (EQs) during the manufacturing process.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience specializing in PCB layout and hardware development.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of at least one major ECAD suite such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro or Zuken (All designs under this role will have to be executed in KiCad.
- Technical Standards: Deep familiarity with IPC Standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600).
- Design Capabilities: Experience with advanced layout concepts like High-Density Interconnect (HDI), blind/buried vias, and Power Electronics Routing.
- Testing & Validation: Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers) to help debug and validate initial prototype boards.
Good-to-Have Qualifications
- IPC CID or CID+ (Certified Interconnect Designer) certification.
- Experience with specialized layout fields like Power Electronics (high-voltage and high-current)
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools within ECAD software
- Basic knowledge of mechanical CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion) to streamline ECAD/MCAD co-design.
