Job summary

Accenture Bengaluru is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee end-to-end payroll processing within a global shared services model.

You will provide day-to-day leadership, ensure accuracy and compliance, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvements in payroll delivery and controls.

Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in global payroll environments.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team.
  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals and controls.
  • Proficient Excel skills and analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing per service calendars, ensuring timely delivery and SLAs.
  • Lead payroll control activities: data validation, reconciliations, variance analysis, post-payroll checks.
  • Review payroll inputs: new hires, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime, deductions, statutory elements.
  • Act as escalation point for payroll queries and data issues; liaise with partners and employees.
  • Coordinate with external payroll vendors for accurate delivery and performance tracking.
  • Oversee post-payroll reporting for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure alignment with internal controls, audit requirements, and governance standards; support audits.
  • Maintain and review SOPs and knowledge transfer materials; ensure process adherence.
  • Support payroll transition, stabilisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, workload prioritisation and coaching to team members.

Payroll Team Leader - Global Payroll

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to support and oversee the end-to-end processing of payroll within a global shared services and operating model. The role will focus on ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing delivery, while providing day-to-day leadership and guidance to a team and working closely with internal payroll teams, internal partners, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support end-to-end payroll processing as per defined service calendars, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to SLAs.
  • Lead payroll control activities including data validation, reconciliations, variance analysis, and post-payroll checks; ensure issues are logged, tracked, and resolved.
  • Review and support processing of payroll inputs including new hires, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime, deductions, and statutory elements.
  • Act as an escalation point for payroll queries and data issues; liaise with internal partners and employees to drive resolution.
  • Coordinate with external payroll vendors to support accurate payroll delivery, issue resolution, and service performance tracking.
  • Oversee post payroll reporting activities and ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure payroll processing aligns with internal controls, audit requirements, and regional governance standards; support audit requests and evidence gathering.
  • Maintain and review payroll process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge transfer materials; ensure the team follows documented processes.
  • Support payroll transition, stabilisation, and continuous improvement initiatives; identify opportunities to improve accuracy, controls, and efficiency.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, workload prioritisation, and coaching to team members to meet delivery timelines and quality standards.
Preferable Experience & Skills
  • 6-8+ years' experience supporting payroll processing, ideally within global payroll environments; prior experience in leading or supervising a team is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals (gross-to-net, statutory deductions, payroll controls) and control/audit readiness.
  • Experience with enterprise payroll systems and vendor-supported payroll delivery models.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage strict payroll deadlines across multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with ability to manage stakeholders and escalations.
