JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Analyst, APAC Payroll Operations to join a global payroll operations team. The role will be responsible for supporting and managing end-to-end APAC payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
The ideal candidate will have strong payroll knowledge, advanced Excel skills, excellent analytical and communication abilities, and experience working with payroll systems and ERP platforms. Experience with process improvement, automation, and working with cross-functional stakeholders will be highly valued.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing for the APAC region.
- Partner with regional payroll teams, HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors to ensure smooth payroll execution.
- Review payroll inputs, outputs, exceptions, and variances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Own and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), knowledge repositories, and payroll process documentation.
- Prepare and manage operational metrics, reports, and dashboards for internal teams and external partners.
- Monitor payroll performance, risks, exceptions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with technology and vendor teams to design and implement scalable payroll solutions.
- Support change initiatives and ensure effective implementation of new processes and systems.
- Analyze current-state processes and recommend future-state improvements.
- Validate automated workflows, business rules, data quality controls, and exception-handling mechanisms.
- Investigate payroll discrepancies, reconcile variances, and ensure timely resolution.
- Support audit readiness, governance, controls, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and process support to team members when required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Payroll Operations, Payroll Processing, Benefits, Taxation, or related finance/HR operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with APAC payroll operations.
- Good knowledge and understanding of payroll processes, controls, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with multinational payroll operations and accounting processes.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced Excel knowledge including formulas, Pivot Tables, data analysis, and reporting; Macros/VBA is preferred.
- Experience with payroll ERP systems such as SAP Payroll, Workday, Oracle HCM, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and reconcile variances.
- Experience in process mapping, business process analysis, and process improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive payroll information with accuracy and confidentiality.
GOOD TO HAVE
- Experience with SAP and ADP payroll systems/software.
- Exposure to payroll automation, robotics, or other technology-driven process improvements.
- Experience integrating payroll systems with HRIS, Time & Attendance, and General Ledger systems.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
- Project management experience or relevant certification.
- Experience with SOX/ICFR controls, audit readiness, and documentation standards.
- Experience working with external payroll vendors.
- Ability to validate and govern automated workflows and rule engines.
