Job summary

Safeguard Global is seeking a skilled India Payroll Specialist to own end-to-end payroll delivery for India while supporting selected APAC countries. This hands-on role requires deep payroll expertise, strong statutory knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and greytHR configuration and testing experience.

You will manage the full payroll cycle, ensure compliance with Indian regulations, and drive system improvements and governance across HR, Finance, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Strong Excel skills including advanced functions and data validation.
• Deep knowledge of India payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience delivering end-to-end India payroll and supporting APAC rollout is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage full India payroll cycle, including processing, validations, reconciliations and year-end activities.
• Ensure compliance with PF/EPF, ESI, Professional Tax, LWF, TDS, gratuity and state-specific requirements.
• Own payroll controls, audits, reconciliations, variance analysis, and statutory reporting.
• Lead configuration requests, testing, UAT, and system improvements in greytHR.
• Partner with HR, Finance, vendors, auditors to resolve payroll issues and maintain governance.
• Coordinate payroll activities with third-party providers across APAC countries.
• Develop reporting, dashboards, and process improvements using Excel and automation tools.

We’re looking for a highly skilled India Payroll Specialist to take ownership of the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of end-to-end India payroll, while supporting payroll operations across selected APAC countries.

This is a hands-on role requiring deep payroll expertise, strong statutory knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and proven greytHR configuration and testing experience.

How you will make a difference:

• Manage the full India payroll cycle, including payroll processing, validations, reconciliations, payments, year-end activities, and employee support.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant India payroll regulations, including PF/EPF, ESI, Professional Tax, LWF, TDS, gratuity, statutory bonus, and state-specific requirements.
• Own payroll controls, audits, reconciliations, variance analysis, and statutory reporting.
• Act as the payroll SME for greytHR, leading configuration requests, testing, UAT, change management, and system improvements.
• Partner with HR, Finance, vendors, and auditors to resolve payroll issues and maintain robust governance.
• Coordinate payroll activities and third-party payroll providers across assigned APAC countries.
• Develop reporting, dashboards, and process improvements using advanced Excel and automation tools.

What will give you an advantage:

• Significant experience independently managing end-to-end India payroll in a complex organisation. Additional APAC country experience is advantageous.
• Strong practical knowledge of greytHR, including configuration requests, UAT, and payroll-related system testing.
• Advanced Excel skills, including: XLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS / COUNTIFS, Data validation and Large dataset reconciliations
• Hands-on experience with India statutory payroll compliance, including PF/ECR files, challans, tax processes, and regulatory reporting.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, audit, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently with employees, Finance, vendors, auditors, and leadership.
• Payroll implementation, migration, or vendor transition experience is advantageous.
• Payroll, Finance, HR, or Compliance qualifications is desirable.
