Job summary

Crossword Bookstores is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Executive to join our HR team at Pune. You will manage end-to-end payroll processing for 1,000+ employees across PAN India, ensuring timely delivery and statutory compliance.

You will coordinate with HRBPs, HR Operations, Finance and external payroll vendors to resolve payroll queries and maintain accurate master data. The role requires 2–7 years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to handle confidential

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of experience in payroll processing and HR operations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliances.
• Hands-on with PF, ESI, PT, LWF and TDS-related payroll activities.
• Proficient in MS Excel / Advanced Excel.
• Good understanding of employee lifecycle, attendance management, and payroll processes.
• Experience with Payroll / HRMS software will be an added advantage.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.

Job Title: Payroll Executive / Senior Executive

Department: Human Resource

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Executive to join our HR team. The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for 1,000+ on-roll and off-roll employees across PAN India, along with statutory compliances, TDS, attendance inputs, employee lifecycle activities and payroll MIS.

The role will involve close coordination with HRBPs, HR Operations, Finance, employees and external payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing and validate payroll inputs for accuracy.
• Maintain and update employee master data for PAN India employees.
• Process payroll inputs related to new joiners, exits, LOP, attendance, salary revisions, incentives, deductions, overtime and other payroll components.
• Handle Full & Final (F&F) settlements for exit employees.
• Coordinate salary-related activities with HR, Finance teams and external payroll vendors.
• Address and resolve employee payroll and salary-related queries in a timely manner.
• Assist with PF, ESI, PT, LWF and other statutory compliance activities across PAN India.
• Handle TDS calculations, tax declarations, investment proofs and Form 16 activities.
• Prepare payroll MIS, reconciliations, salary reports and other payroll-related reports for management.
• Coordinate and process payroll vendor payments and related documentation.
• Ensure payroll activities are completed accurately within defined timelines and in accordance with applicable statutory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee salary and payroll-related information.

Required Technical knowledge and Skills

• 2–7 years of relevant experience in Payroll Processing and HR Operations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliances.
• Hands-on experience with PF, ESI, PT, LWF and TDS-related payroll activities.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Excel / Advanced Excel.
• Good understanding of employee lifecycle, attendance management and payroll processes.
• Experience with Payroll / HRMS software will be an added advantage.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Finance or a related field.
• Candidates with relevant payroll experience and strong Excel skills will be preferred.
