Job summary

Cubic Transportation is seeking a Payroll Associate to handle timely processing of payroll checks, maintain the payroll database, and resolve employee inquiries under supervision.

You will compute overtime, vacation, and other withholdings, review garnishments, coordinate with disability carriers, and ensure accuracy across pay rates, taxes, and direct deposits, while upholding company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2–3 years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with SAP Payroll or ADP is a plus; regional USA/Canada experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain payroll database ensuring data integrity for pay rates, taxes, and direct deposits.
• Process timecards weekly; compute overtime and leave; enter labor distributions.
• Review garnishments and coordinate with creditors or agencies.
• Coordinate with disability carriers for sick payments.
• Communicate payroll processing errors to employees and respond to inquiries.
• Assist with verification of employment and unemployment benefit audits.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by Payroll Manager.

Hi,

Job Summary: Calculates, prepares, and initiates distribution of payroll checks in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures that payroll related changes are processed according to established Company policies and procedures. Researches and resolves employee inquires as requested. This position typically works under close supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains employee payroll database. Responsible for integrity of pay rate, direct deposit, social security number or global equivalent, tax withholding, and other payroll related information. Reviews data entry input after each payroll process.
• Distributes, receives, proofs and verifies timecards in accordance with Company policy. Computes overtime, vacation, sick, jury duty and hours worked on a weekly basis. Codes and enters the computations and labor distribution into the timecard entry system. Balances the timecard batch input to the payroll transactions used in the calculation process.
• Performs operational jobs as outlined on the payroll transmittal and ensure the accuracy of each job through the calculation stage of the payroll process.
• Reviews and interprets garnishment notices, calculates deduction amounts, prepares remittance checks and required documentation. Maintains contact with employee, creditor, or law enforcement agency on status of garnishment.
• Works with disability carriers to coordinate calculation and payment of supplemental sick payments.
• Informs employees of payroll processing errors if they occur and answer employee inquiries.
• Facilitates verification of employment forms, unemployment benefit audits, and other similar files as required.
• Performs ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school graduation, or equivalent, with minimum two to three years payroll processing experience.Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Able to prioritize and complete tasks and work under deadlines. Experience with SAP payroll and or ADP a plus. Regional expertise in USA and Canada is must.
