To manage monthly employee payroll processing, payroll accounting, statutory compliances, reconciliations, and payroll budgets, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely remittances, and adherence to statutory and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Accounting
- Handle monthly employee payroll processing, including validation of payroll inputs and coordination with HR.
- Ensure accurate accounting of gross pay, deductions, net pay, and employer statutory contributions.
- Perform cost center-wise payroll accounting and posting of payroll entries into the general ledger.
- Ensure timely remittance and accounting of payroll payouts.
Reconciliations & Schedules
- Perform monthly Gross Pay vs Net Pay reconciliation.
- Reconcile payroll registers with general ledger balances and resolve variances.
- Prepare and review payroll-related schedules for month-end and year-end closure.
Statutory Compliance & Remittances
- Ensure accurate computation, accounting, and timely remittance of statutory dues including:
- Employee State Insurance (ESI)
- Professional Tax (PT)
- Income Tax (TDS on Salaries)
- Statutory Bonus
- Support preparation and filing of statutory returns and respond to statutory and audit queries.
Final Settlements
- Compute and process full & final settlements, including gratuity, leave encashment, bonus, and statutory recoveries.
- Ensure proper accounting and closure of exiting employee balances.
Employee Advances
- Manage accounting, tracking, and recovery of employee advances and salary loans.
Payroll Budgets & MIS
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of payroll budgets across departments and cost centers.
- Analyze payroll variances and prepare MIS reports for management review.
Audit & Controls
- Support internal and statutory audits by providing payroll data, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and confidentiality of payroll information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in payroll accounting or finance roles.
- Experience in multi-cost-centre or shared services environments preferred.

- Strong in Excel (Advanced)
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and payroll accounting.
- Working knowledge of Indian payroll statutory laws (PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, Bonus).
- Experience in payroll reconciliations, budgeting, and MIS.
- Good Excel skills and exposure to payroll systems / ERP (SAP preferred).
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
