Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and run vision awareness camps and community outreach events.
  • Coordinate schedules, activities, and therapeutic programmes for participants.
  • Serve as main contact for participants and families, providing emotional support.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and rehab specialists to align activities with care plans.
  • Maintain records, collect feedback, and generate post-camp reports.

Job Summary:-

We are looking for a proactive and empathetic Camp Counsellor to plan and coordinate vision awareness camps, community outreach programmes, and patient rehabilitation activities. The role involves supporting patients and their families, coordinating with clinical teams, conducting awareness activities, and ensuring a safe and engaging camp experience.


Key Responsibilities:-

1.Camp Programme Coordination
  • Plan, organise, and execute vision awareness camps, post-operative rehabilitation camps, and community outreach eye-screening events.
  • Develop daily schedules, activity plans, and therapeutic programmes tailored to participants' age groups and visual impairment levels.
  • Coordinate logistics, including venue setup, materials, transport, and catering.

2.Participant Support & Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for camp participants and their families/caregivers.
  • Provide emotional support, encouragement, and motivation to patients recovering from eye surgeries or managing chronic visual conditions.
  • Facilitate group activities, interactive workshops, and recreational therapies adapted for low-vision or post-operative participants.
  • Monitor participant wellbeing, promptly escalating any medical or emotional concerns to the clinical team.

3.Clinical Collaboration
  • Work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists to align camp activities with patients' care plans.
  • Assist in pre-camp assessments and post-camp feedback collection to measure outcomes.
  • Support vision screening activities and help educate participants about eye health, hygiene, and disease prevention.

4.Community Outreach
  • Actively participate in community health camps, school vision screening drives, and rural outreach programmes.
  • Build relationships with local schools, NGOs, and community groups to promote Smart Vision's outreach initiatives.
  • Raise awareness on preventable blindness, corrective procedures, and available hospital services.

5.Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of camp attendance, activities, participant feedback, and incident reports.
  • Prepare post-camp reports with key metrics, observations, and recommendations for programme improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, data privacy standards, and safeguarding protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements:-

Essential
  • Bachelor's degree in Allied Health Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5yrs of experience in a counselling, caregiving, camp coordination, or community health role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to connect with diverse age groups and backgrounds.
  • Empathetic, patient, and emotionally resilient with a commitment to patient-centred care.
  • Ability to manage groups effectively and handle high-pressure situations calmly.
  • Proficiency in local language(s) Hindi and English; multilingual skills are a strong advantage.

Preferred:-
  • Prior experience working in a hospital, eye care, or disability services environment.
  • Knowledge of vision impairment, low-vision aids, or ophthalmology basics.
  • First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Experience conducting community awareness or health education sessions.
