Job summary

Docdort seeks an experienced ophthalmologist to join a fast-scaling healthcare innovator delivering precision eye care across urban and semi-urban India. You will perform phacoemulsification and LASIK, lead patient counseling, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes.

The role requires MBBS with ophthalmology postgraduate qualification, valid NMC registration, and English plus a regional language.

Qualifications

  • MBBS with postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (DO/DNB/MS)
  • Valid NMC registration with active license to practice in India
  • Proven experience in phacoemulsification and LASIK
  • Proficiency with slit lamp, tonometer, fundus camera, OCT, and auto-refractor
  • ACLS certification or equivalent emergency response training
  • Experience managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and pediatric eye cases
  • Fluency in English and at least one regional Indian language

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose ocular conditions and prescribe interventions.
  • Perform routine and complex ophthalmic surgeries including phacoemulsification and LASIK with high precision.
  • Lead patient counseling sessions on post-operative care and preventive eye health.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, orthoptists, and clinic coordinators to streamline workflow and maintain EMR/EHR compliance.
  • Participate in community vision screening drives and rural outreach to expand access.
  • Mentor junior clinical staff and stay current with advances and regulatory guidelines.

  • Lead patient counseling sessions on post-operative care, chronic condition management, and preventive eye health strategies.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, orthoptists, and clinic coordinators to streamline workflow, reduce patient wait times, and maintain clinical documentation compliance (EMR/EHR).
  • Participate in community vision screening drives, school eye camps, and rural outreach programs to expand access to underserved areas.
