OT Integration Engineer
The Site Digitization Hub (SDH) is ENGIE Renewables global Center of Excellence for site digitization. Our mission is to ensure every new site is Data & Digital ready by Provisional Acceptance. That is, fully connected to ENGIE's corporate SCADA backbone with an accurate digital representation by the time the asset is handed-over by Construction to the O&M. We operate across 22 country entities: they build and run the sites, SDH builds the digital pathway that makes those sites visible, auditable, and optimizable from day 1. DEFINITION OF THE ROLE Mission:
Within the Global Business Unit Renewable & Flex Power, we are scaling our Site Digitization Hub's delivery capacity. We are opening senior engineering roles reporting to the SDH Lead to streamline our site onboarding process. You'll be trusted to take a site, be able to access its local SCADA, work through whatever documentation exists (and figure out what's missing), and deliver a clean, auditable connection to the corporate backbone on time.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong background in PV and/or BESS technology, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion within the renewable energy sector.
Main Activities & Responsibilities:
The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Own the architecture and evolution of the SDH digital solutions on Azure ingestion, extraction, review workflows, version-controlled approvals, and structured output generation (Excel, JSON, and downstream integration formats)
- Design and build scalable data pipelines that extract structured data from technical PDFs (SLDs, BOMs, tag lists, PPC logic) and Excel deliverables, combining deterministic parsing with LLM-based vision and extraction components
- Architect the Azure cloud footprint for SDH tooling compute, storage, eventing, secrets, identity, observability aligned with ENGIE's cloud governance standards
- Partner with SDH SCADA engineers to translate recurring manual work into production-grade internal tools, including the Tag Mapping automation pipeline
- Set engineering standards for the SDH codebase: structure, testing, auditability, non-developer-readable commenting, code review discipline, CI/CD
- Mentor younger developer and raise the technical maturity of the team
- Own the full software lifecycle for SDH-built tools from requirements capture with engineering stakeholders through design, deployment, and operations
Interfaces:
- R-GBU HQ
- Countries IT/OT teams
- Countries Construction and O&M teams
- OEM representatives
- Internal development and IT teams
Qualification:
- Degree in Software engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or equivalent discipline
- 5–9 years of hands-on experience in utility-scale renewable energy SCADA engineering, with demonstrated depth in python Skills/specific knowledge
Technical Skills:
- Deep working knowledge of industrial / OT environments: SCADA concepts, tag lists, equipment hierarchies, OPC (UA/DA), and at least one SCADA or industrial platform (Ignition, GE Proficy, Kepware, or equivalent)
- Proven ability to read and reason about engineering documentation — SLDs, I/O lists, communication architecture — well enough to design software that processes it correctly
- Strong command of Python data tooling: Pandas, Polars, Numpy, and modern API frameworks (FastAPI or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience architecting and operating cloud-based data pipelines in production (Azure strongly preferred; proven AWS or GCP equivalence with willingness to work Azure-first is acceptable)
- Experience with LLM-based extraction or vision-to-structured-data pipelines, including prompt design, structured output validation, and human-in-the-loop review patterns
- Comfort with SQL and relational data modeling
- Version control discipline on GitHub, including code review, branching strategy, and CI/CD
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Azure-native services: Blob Storage, Functions, Event Grid / Service Bus, Azure AD / Entra ID, Key Vault, Application Insights
- Experience delivering on a cloud SCADA / monitoring platform (Bazefield, Univers Qantum, or equivalent enterprise SaaS)
- Background in renewable energy, utilities, or utility-scale industrial software
- Familiarity with data modeling standards adjacent to SCADA — IEC CIM, equipment taxonomies, tag naming conventions
- PowerShell scripting and experience in Windows-heavy enterprise environments
- Java exposure for integration with OT platforms (e.g., Ignition)
