Qualifications

• Hands-on ZEMAX proficiency and laboratory testing experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, model, simulate, and analyze optical systems using ZEMAX
• Develop and optimize optical systems to meet specs
• Perform tolerance analysis and performance evaluation via simulations
• Set up optics lab experiments for testing and validation
• Conduct laser beam alignment and optical characterization
• Select, integrate, and evaluate optical components (lenses, mirrors, filters, beam splitters, detectors)
• Troubleshoot optical, laser, and alignment issues
• Support integration of optical subsystems with mechanical, electronic, and laser components
• Prepare designs, test procedures, and performance reports
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary Engineering, R&D, and System Integration teams

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Optics / Photonics Engineer with a strong background in optics, photonics, and laser-based technologies to support the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced optical systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience in optical system design using ZEMAX OpticStudio, along with practical lab experience in optical setup, testing, measurement, laser beam alignment, beam characterization, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, model, simulate, and analyse optical systems using ZEMAX OpticStudio
• Develop and optimise optical systems based on system requirements and performance targets
• Perform tolerance analysis and performance evaluation using simulation techniques
• Set up and conduct optics lab experiments for testing, measurement, and validation
• Perform laser beam alignment, optical alignment, and beam characterization
• Select, integrate, and evaluate optical components (lenses, mirrors, filters, beam splitters, detectors)
• Troubleshoot optical, laser, and alignment-related issues
• Support integration of optical subsystems with mechanical, electronic, and laser components
• Prepare technical documentation — designs, test procedures, and performance reports
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary Engineering, R&D, and System Integration teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Optics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, Electronics, or related discipline
• 4–5 years of relevant experience in optics, photonics, or laser-based technologies
• Hands‑on experience with ZEMAX OpticStudio
• Practical lab experience in optical setup, testing, and beam alignment/characterization
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; good communication and documentation skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with electro-optical, imaging, or precision optical assemblies
• Exposure to optical testing/characterisation equipment
• Experience on defence, aerospace, or high-technology systems is an advantage
