Weare seeking an Optical Design Engineer with strong expertise in optical systemdesign, simulation, tolerancing, and validation. The role involves completeownership of design activities from requirement capture to system validationand customer engagement.
KeyResponsibilities
1.Project Initiation & Requirements
- Understandsystem and product requirements; extract relevant inputs.
- Definedetailed optical specifications with primary engineering calculations.
- Communicateassumptions, deliverables, timelines, and associated risks.
- Anticipatechallenges and provide effective risk mitigation strategies.
2.Optical System Design
- Performdetailed optical design using Zemax or equivalent tools.
- Conductoptimization, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing sensitivity studies.
- Generateoptical drawings, documentation, and design reports.
- Typicalsystems include:
- o EO/IR cameras, nightvision optics
- Presentdesign solutions to customers and internal stakeholders.
3.Opto-Mechanical & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Transferoptical design intent to mechanical teams.
- Supportdevelopment of mounts, mechanisms, baffles & housings.
- Understandtolerances and environmental impacts on system performance.
- Basicexposure to detectors (CCD, CMOS, IR), acquisition electronics, and systemintegration.
4.Validation & Testing
- Coordinatelens procurement, vendor interactions, and corrective actions.
- Supportfabrication, material selection, alignment, and test activities.
- Performoptical validation under laboratory and environmental conditions.
5.General Engineering Contributions
- Participatein project initiation, feasibility studies, and cost analysis.
- Providetechnical inputs for proposals and solution justification.
6. Communication& Soft Skills
- Communicateeffectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Preparetechnical presentations and demonstrate solutions to clients.
- Willingnessto travel for trials, studies, and customer discussions.
- Self-driven,quick learner with strong ownership and enthusiasm for optics.
Requirements
- MScPhysics (preferably Semiconductors) / M.Tech (Applied Optics) / MSc Tech(Optics/Photonics)
- 3– 5 years of hands-onexperience with Zemax or equivalent optical design tools
- Basicknowledge on 3D modelling (modules, components, and full devices)
- Abilityto generate ISO-compliant optical design drawings
- Workingknowledge of optical manufacturing & design documentation
- Experiencein Opto-mechanical design and opto-electronics is an advantage
- Willingnessto travel across India and SEA for trials, demonstrations, and customer support
