Job summary

NILightpath is seeking an Optical HW Engineer to contribute to the design and development of coherent transceivers and transponder line cards, plus integration and oDVT. You will evaluate optical components, handle schematic/layout, and deliver tasks within design rules and plans.

You will own assigned optical design, integration, and testing duties, delivering complete results and proposing practical improvements to lab setups and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Optical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years' experience in optical integration and testing of coherent modules/transponders.
• Familiarity with optical characterization equipment and measurement techniques.
• Ability to follow a design/test plan and troubleshoot bench issues.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a talented Optical HW Engineer to join our dynamic team, contributing to the design and development of cutting-edge coherent transceivers (DCO pluggables) and transponder line cards, plus integration and oDVT (optical design verification test).

You will support the optical design of coherent transceivers (DCO pluggables), and optical module integration and oDVT, by evaluation of optical components, schematic/layout, executing defined design tasks and tests, collecting data, and helping the team meet optical performance and quality targets. You will take ownership of assigned optical design, integration, and test tasks, delivering complete, accurate results within the teams design rules and plans, and proposing practical improvements to procedures and lab setups.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Support optical design of coherent transceivers.
• Integrate optical modules into coherent transceivers and transponder line cards, ensuring optical performance.
• Create technical documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports. Capture design issues found in the lab.
• Develop and implement test routines to evaluate key performance for coherent transceivers and transponder line cards.
• Compare results to spec and MSA/reference (OIF, OpenZR+, OpenROADM, ITU-T as applicable).
• Run Python (or similar) scripts in the current automation framework; script fixes/updates as required.
• Work with firmware, hardware, and optics teams on clearly assigned tasks. Collaborate with the cross-functional (XF) team to improve performance.
• Represent optical design, integration, and oDVT in XF meetings for your product drop.
