Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Ophthalmologist role based in Coimbatore. The Ophthalmologist will conduct comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and perform surgical and non‑surgical interventions as appropriate. Responsibilities include providing outpatient and inpatient care, prescribing treatments and corrective lenses, and using advanced diagnostic and laser equipment for procedures such as cataract and refractive surgeries. The role involves collaborating with optometrists and other clinical staff, maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards, and participating in patient education and counseling. The Ophthalmologist is also expected to contribute to continuous quality improvement, support clinical training initiatives, and uphold the organization’s standards of ethical, patient‑focused care.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Medicine and Ophthalmology, with the ability to diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions.
  • Clinical expertise in Optometry‑related practices, including refraction, prescribing corrective lenses, and managing common visual disorders.
  • Proficiency in Surgery, including cataract and other ophthalmic procedures, with a focus on safe, evidence‑based practice.
  • Experience with Laser technologies and techniques used in ophthalmic procedures such as LASIK and retinal treatments.
  • Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS/DOMS/DNB) with valid medical registration.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to compassionate, patient‑centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, manage high patient volumes, and adapt to a fast‑paced clinical environment.
  • Prior experience in a tertiary eye care or hospital setting is preferred; familiarity with modern ophthalmic equipment and EMR systems is an advantage.
