Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technical or business field with purchasing or supply chain training.
• At least 2 years of relevant procurement experience.
• Experience purchasing technical products is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office and ERP/SAP environments.

Responsibilities

• Procure assemblies, parts and services to meet specifications and demand plans.
• Check order confirmations and act on discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor delivery dates and coordinate with stakeholders for timely delivery.
• Proactively manage overdue deliveries and follow-ups.
• Handle procurement-related quality/invoice issues with suppliers and teams.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing rules, processes and regulations.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
• Negotiate and issue RFQs and prepare results for processing.
• Participate in process projects and create necessary tickets.
• Create and maintain SAP master data: material masters, info records, source lists.

Oerlikon in Debrecen is looking for an experienced and motivated Operational Buyer to support our Global Procurement Team for a 10-month fixed-term assignment.

In this role, you will contribute to the efficient execution of procurement activities, ensuring the timely availability of materials and services while supporting global purchasing operations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain international exposure, collaborate with global stakeholders, and play a key role in supporting our supply chain and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost-efficient and on‑time procurement of assemblies, parts, and services according to specifications and directives aligned with demand planning.
• Checking order confirmations and initiating appropriate actions in case of discrepancies.
• Monitoring delivery dates and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
• Actively managing overdue deliveries, outstanding order confirmations, and other follow‑ups.
• Managing procurement‑related quality/invoice issues, including coordination with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ensuring compliance with purchasing rules, processes, and regulations.
• Identifying and implementing cost‑saving opportunities.
• Negotiating and distributing requests for quotations and preparing results for further processing.
• Participating in process‑related projects and creating tickets as necessary.
• Responsibility for creating and maintaining master data in SAP, such as material masters, info records, and source lists.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree of technical or business education with additional professional training in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry and job‑specific experience.
• Experience in purchasing technical products is a strong advantage.
• Proficient user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams).
• Extensive experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Language Skills:

• English and Hungarian: Proficient in both professional correspondence and conversational use.
• German an advantage
