Job summary

Galaxy Freight in Mumbai is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Head to lead the Ocean team and oversee end-to-end ocean export shipments. The role requires deep knowledge of ocean freight operations, export documentation, and effective team management to ensure smooth cargo movement and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have 10–12 years of experience, a graduate or postgraduate qualification in SCM or related field, and a proven track record in carrier negotiations and cost

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
• 10–12 years of experience in ocean export freight forwarding and logistics.
• Strong knowledge of Indian ports, shipping lines, and global trade lanes.
• Sound understanding of export documentation, compliance, and operational workflows.
• Proven experience in carrier negotiations, team management, and process optimization.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet KPIs/KRAs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end ocean export operations, including FCL, LCL, reefer, and special cargo shipments.
• Manage carrier contracts, negotiate freight rates, and maintain service-level agreements.
• Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations and company policies.
• Co-ordinate with CFS/ICD, transport vendors, shipping lines, and port authorities for smooth cargo movement.
• Develop and implement SOPs and provide operational training to team members and stakeholders.
• Drive risk management initiatives and optimize export operational costs.
• Strengthen and expand the overseas agent network to support business growth.
• Identify and implement product and process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor operational performance and ensure achievement of departmental KPIs and KRAs.
