Job summary

Regency Hospital Limited in Kanpur seeks an experienced Nursing Superintendent to lead the nursing department. The role demands overseeing overall nursing care and ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and SOPs.

Key duties include training staff on hospital policies, implementing quality plans, supervising inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic units, and ensuring equipment, drugs, and cleanliness meet high standards. A B.sc Nursing or GNM with 15–20 years of experience is required.

Qualifications

• Documentation and implementation of SOPs as per accreditation standards.
• Follow-up of training schedules, training calendar, and Quality plan.
• Provide training to staff on Hospital policies and procedures.
• Responsible for overall nursing care of all patients.
• Monitor inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic and other areas.
• Ensure nursing staff follow nursing standards and use initiative in various situations.
• Ensure no harm to patients through errors or negligence by staff.
• Maintain emergency drugs tray availability at nursing stations, OT, and injection room.
• Ensure equipment is in working condition and arrange repairs/replacements as needed.
• Impress on staff the importance of compassion and good behavior; reprimand defaults.
• Oversee cleanliness of hospital and linen; coordinate with housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Take rounds of all units at least once a week.
• Supervise Supervisors and In-charges to ensure competent performance.

Job Description:

• Documentation and Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures as per accreditation standards.
• Proper follow-up of framed training schedules, training calendar, and Quality plan.
• Provide training to the staff regarding the Policies and Procedures of the Hospital.
• To be responsible for the overall nursing care of all the patients in the hospital.
• To keep a watch and guide the nursing staff working in inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic and other areas.
• To ensure that the nursing staff observes and follows the standards of nursing procedures and also use their initiative for any situation.
• To ensure by constant checks that no harm is done to patients through error or negligence on the part of the nursing staff.
• To constantly check that an emergency drugs tray with necessary injection and drugs are available in each nursing station, operation theatre, injection room, etc.
• To ensure that all the equipment is in working condition and action initiated for repair/ replacement of items that are broken/ damaged/ lost/ needs repairers.
• Will impress on the nursing staff the importance of compassion and good behavior and will time to time reprimand the defaulting nursing staff.
• To keep a general watch on the cleanliness of the hospital & hospital linen etc. and where necessary will bring it to the notice of house Keeping Supervisors for rectification.
• To ensure that Supervisors & In-charges carry out their supervisory and technical functions competently.

To take the rounds of all the units at least once in aweek.
