Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in India is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to support safety case development across design, operation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, and to produce essential safety documentation as part of Site Licence Conditions.

You will work with operators, designers and clients, contribute to bids, and engage in hazard analyses, QRA, DSA/PSA, and ALARP assessments, applying strong engineering judgement and clear communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in nuclear safety case skill sets.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
• Master's degree in these disciplines is advantageous, but not required.
• Excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to produce and review high-quality technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Support safety case development during design, operation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
• Produce nuclear safety documentation as part of Site Licence Conditions.
• Carry out hazard/fault identification studies (HAZOP/HAZID/HAZAN/FMEA) and QRA.
• Contribute to DSA and PSA assessments.
• Assist in bids and proposals and collaborate with operators, designers and clients.

Overview

Join us as a Nuclear Safety Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division and play a vital role designing complex new schemes to protect our clients' assets. This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.

Your role

• The role will entail supporting safety case development during the design, operation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and for the production of all nuclear safety documentation as part of the Site Licence Conditions.
• The domain of the nuclear safety case production offers opportunities to thrive in the following skill sets.
• Hazard/fault identification studies e.g., HAZOP, HAZID, HAZAN, FMEA, etc.
• Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA).
• Deterministic safety assessments (DSA). A
• Probabilistic safety assessments (PSA).
• Nuclear Safety case development and As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) assessment.
• Other key aspects of the role will include assisting in the production of bids and proposals and implementing and contributing to safety initiatives. You will also work within teams that liaise with operators, designers and clients, building a strong relationship with them.

About you

• We're looking for a candidate with > 5 years of working experience in the nuclear safety case skill sets noted above. The candidate should have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
• The Master degree in these disciplines and nuclear engineering is advantages, however not a requirement for the role.
• In addition to having excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills you will also be able to demonstrate the following:
• Technical practitioner able to demonstrate good engineering judgement and with extensive experience in using fundamental engineering skills.
• Experience in safety case production and/or hazard analysis.
• Able to produce and review/correct high-quality technical reports.
