Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the Balance of Plant discipline within its T&D practice. You will deliver diverse projects across locations, preparing design bases, risk assessments, and costed proposals.

You’ll size transformers, switchgear, batteries, and protection systems while coordinating with Navisworks/Plant 3D/Revit models. You will review drawings, perform load flow calculations, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 8–10 years of detailed design experience in thermal/nuclear and renewable energy sectors.
• Experience with power generation and distribution equipment such as solar PV cells, BESS, transformers, switchgears, relays, cables, motors, UPS/inverter.
• Proficiency with Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, and DIALux evo is required.
• Familiarity with 2D/3D BIM environments and international standards (IEC/BS/IEEE).
• Ability to work as an individual contributor or lead projects as needed, with renewable energy experience including PV/Wind/BESS.
• Knowledge of PVsyst/HelioScope is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects meeting client expectations with strong technical oversight.
• Prepare basis of design, electrical design risk assessments, and system configuration reports.
• Prepare proposals and man-hour estimates.
• Conduct technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing reviews.
• Perform clash detection and coordinate with other utilities.
• Review design drawings/models in Navisworks, Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D.
• Prepare load lists and Single Line Diagrams (SLD).
• Size electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, battery/UPS, generators) and perform related calculations.
• Cover protection and control including CT/PT sizing and IO list preparation.
• Size LV/MV cables, develop cable schedules and routing.
• Prepare electrical equipment and cable tray layouts.
• Carry out lightning risk assessments, earthing calculations, and layout planning.
• Perform indoor/outdoor lighting calculations and illumination layouts.
• Design small power supply systems and cable routing.
• Coordinate cable tray, duct, and conduit sizing and routing.

T&D business is looking for experienced engineers in Balance of Plant Discipline, as we look to grow the team in line with business requirements. Your role

• Using your experience and knowledge, you will be responsible for the delivery of a variety of projects and making sure it meets our client's'expectations.
• Preparation of basis of design, electrical design risk assessments, system configuration report etc.
• Preparing the proposal and man hour estimations.
• Technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing review.

• Electrical equipment protection and control including CT/PT sizing, control cable selection and preparation of the IO list.
• LV and MV cable sizing, Cable Schedule and Routing
• Preparation of electrical equipment layout and cable tray layout
• Lightning risk assessment, earthing calculations and layout preparation.
• Indoor and outdoor lighting calculation and preparation of illumination layout
• Small power supply system design
• Cable tray, cable duct, conduit sizing and routing

About You

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with minimum 8-10 years of relevant detailed design experience in thermal / nuclear and renewable energy sector.
• Detailed knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment such as Solar PV Cells, BESS, generator, transformer, switchgear, protective relays, cables, motors, battery system, UPS / Inverter / converter is required.
• Good knowledge of software like Trimble ProDesign (Amtech), ETAP, DIALux evo
• Familiarity with 2D and 3D BIM environment
• Good knowledge on IEC / BS / IEEE standards and other international standards.
• Ability to perform as an individual contributor or lead projects, depending on business needs.
• Experience in renewable energy sector such as Solar PV / Wind / BESS Plant design
• Knowledge of PVsyst / HelioScope is desirable
