AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to support safety case development across design, operation, commissioning and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. You will produce safety documentation and analyses and collaborate with operators, designers and clients to ensure robust safety outcomes.

The candidate should have 5+ years of nuclear safety experience and a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, with a Master’s being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering.
• 5+ years in nuclear safety or high-hazard industries.
• Experience with safety case production and hazard analysis.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Support safety case development across design, operation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
• Contribute to production of safety documentation and analyses (DSA/PSA/HAZOP results).
• Collaborate with operators, designers and clients to ensure safety requirements are met.

And with a huge variety of projects to work on, you'll have plenty of opportunities to grow and challenge yourself as a consultant.We welcome professionals from nuclear and / or high hazard industries —who are eager to apply their skills, learn quickly, and grow in a highly regulated, safety‐focused environment.This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.## **Your role*** The role will entail supporting safety case development during the design, operation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and for the production of all nuclear safety documentation as part of the Site Licence Conditions.* The domain of the nuclear safety case production offers opportunities to thrive in the following skill sets.* Hazard/fault identification studies e.g., HAZOP, HAZID, HAZAN, FMEA, etc.* Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA).* Deterministic safety assessments (DSA). A* Probabilistic safety assessments (PSA).* Nuclear Safety case development and As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) assessment.* Other key aspects of the role will include assisting in the production of bids and proposals and implementing and contributing to safety initiatives. You will also work within teams that liaise with operators, designers and clients, building a strong relationship with them.## **About you*** We’re looking for a candidate with > 5 years of working experience in the nuclear safety case skill sets noted above.
