Talemexa is seeking an experienced Node.js Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and real-time features using Node.js, TypeScript, and Express.js or NestJS. The role requires 3–6 years of Node.js experience with API design and practical DB work (MongoDB/PostgreSQL).

You will collaborate with frontend, mobile, product teams and stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance backend solutions.

About the Role

Talemexa is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Node.js Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and real-time features for our platform. In this role, you will build reliable server-side applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.

The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of Node.js development experience, strong knowledge of API design, and practical experience working with databases such as MongoDB or PostgreSQL. You should also understand asynchronous programming, caching strategies, background job processing, automated testing, and API security.

You will collaborate with frontend developers, mobile engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance backend solutions that support application functionality and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
• API Design and Development: Build, document, and maintain secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs that enable reliable communication between frontend applications, mobile apps, and backend systems.
• Database Management: Design efficient database schemas, develop queries, and optimize data access using MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other suitable database technologies.
• Real-Time Features: Develop real-time application functionality using appropriate technologies and communication protocols to support responsive user experiences.
• Background Jobs and Queues: Implement asynchronous processing, job queues, and background tasks to handle resource-intensive operations and improve application responsiveness.
• Caching and Performance: Apply caching strategies and optimize application logic, database queries, and API response times to improve overall system performance.Testing and Quality Assurance: Write and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and other automated tests to improve reliability and reduce production defects.
• API Security: Implement authentication, authorization, input validation, secure error handling, and other appropriate security measures to protect application data and services.
• Cloud and Deployment: Support application deployment and maintenance in cloud environments such as AWS or Microsoft Azure, following established operational practices.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor backend services, investigate errors, resolve performance bottlenecks, and contribute to system reliability and availability.
• Code Quality: Follow coding standards, participate in code reviews, maintain technical documentation, and promote reusable and maintainable software architecture.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with frontend and mobile developers, designers, and product teams to understand requirements and deliver features within agreed timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 3–6 years of professional experience developing backend applications with Node.js.
• Practical experience with Express.js or NestJS.
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and GraphQL APIs.
• Good understanding of database design, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or both.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and background processing.
• Familiarity with caching technologies, message queues, and performance optimization.
• Basic working knowledge of AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of API security principles and secure coding practices.
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, Git, and collaborative development workflows.
