Job summary

Cognizant Bengaluru is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and build scalable Node.js services for high-volume workloads. You will work with JavaScript and SQL to implement robust data pipelines and APIs.

Collaborate with product managers, architects and engineers to refine requirements into clean technical designs and durable components, with emphasis on security, testing and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Eight to ten years of software engineering experience with SQL Node.js and JavaScript technologies.
• Relational database concepts with advanced SQL for analytical and transactional use cases.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js to build asynchronous secure and observable services.
• Experience with modern JavaScript patterns and tooling for clean testable modules.
• Familiarity with hybrid work practices and remote collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban to plan sprints and deliver value.
• Experience with unit integration and API testing to ensure reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex SQL queries stored procedures and database schemas that ensure data integrity efficient retrieval and optimal performance for critical business applications
• Implement modular reusable and well structured application components in JavaScript that improve maintainability readability and long term sustainability of the codebase
• Review code contributions from peers and provide constructive feedback that improves code quality enforces standards and reduces the likelihood of production defects
• Collaborate closely with product managers architects and other engineers to refine requirements into clear technical designs that support long term product evolution
• Integrate internal and external services through secure APIs that enable seamless data exchange and reduce manual work for business stakeholders
• Optimize application performance by profiling critical paths tuning SQL refactoring Node JS logic and reducing response times to meet user expectations
• Apply secure coding practices across SQL Node JS and JavaScript components to mitigate vulnerabilities and safeguard confidential customer and enterprise data
• Create and maintain automated tests that cover core service flows and data access logic to improve regression coverage and support continuous integration practices
• Troubleshoot complex production incidents by analyzing logs metrics and database traces then implement durable fixes that prevent recurrence and improve system resilience
• Document technical designs data flows and service contracts in a clear and accessible manner to support knowledge sharing and future onboarding of engineering talent
