Job summary

Formulation Development & Design

This is the primary responsibility, focusing on turning an bioactive compound into a final, viable dosage form (tablet, capsule, powder, liquid, Ointment, Gel, Beverage, Gummies, Sprays, Premixes etc.).

• Pre-formulation Studies: Characterizing the physical and chemical properties of the bioactive material, Nutra Ingredient (e.g., solubility, stability, purity, melting point, polymorphism) to determine the best delivery system.
• Ingredient Selection: Selecting appropriate excipients (inactive ingredients like binders, fillers, disintegrants, coatings, masking and flavorings) to ensure stability, bioavailability, manufacturability, and patient/consumer acceptance.
• Prototype Creation: Designing and preparing experimental batches of the product at a small, laboratory scale which can be scaled upto commercial batch.
• Optimization: Using scientific principles like Quality by Design (QbD) and Design of Experiments (DoE) to systematically vary ingredient amounts and process parameters to find the optimal, most robust formula.
• Process Development: Defining the specific manufacturing procedure (blending time, compression force, coating parameters, etc.) that will be used for large-scale production.
