Job summary

Iron Systems in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Data Center Infrastructure professional to install, configure and troubleshoot network hardware and data center cabling. You will support rack-and-stack activities, perform IMAC/break-fix tasks, and assist in circuit migrations, with emphasis on quality and documentation.

Applicants should have 5–8 years in data center infrastructure and 3+ years in installation and troubleshooting of network hardware; English language skills required.

Qualifications

• BSc in computer science or related field or equivalent; electronics emphasis preferred.
• Itil knowledge and ITIL environment experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Cleaning tools, testing, reporting, and installing cables or optics for new circuits. physical cabling, cable management, northbound cabling (fiber/copper/power).
• Support network and server teams by assisting with rack and stack and running cables. Planned/ Predictive maintenance or circuit migration support
• Labeling, patching, and asset tagging activities perform installation as needed either through physical or network medium.
• Follow specific task instructions and provide necessary reporting as necessary and support either through phone, remote tools, or in person on-site.
• Conduct failure analysis and perform functional testing of entire system. Identify failed components, planned maintenance, or circuit migration support.
• Reseating or swapping new line cards
• Making, crimping and testing RJ45 Copper Cables

Breakfix/Technical Task List:

• Cleaning fibres, replace the faulty optical cable. Installing loopbacks, VFL OPM testing
• Inserting/removing/replacing defective components. Line cards, Fibers, etc.. Assist with fault diagnosis and investigation with RMA processing.
• Configuring remote access, basic storage array configuration, and replacing faulty cables.
• Rebooting line cards or chassis or reseating of cards/optics
• Providing loop-back cables to test circuits remotely, re-seating or replacing components or cables
• Power cycling and conducting a whole unit replacement.

Preferred Skillsets: Technical Experience:

• Hands-on experience in installing and troubleshooting infrastructure (DC Network) equipments, rack, and stack of the equipment/Fiber Copper cable.
• Infrastructure (Data center and network) hardware architecture as to understand the procedure shared by L3 teams during troubleshooting, HSE support.
• Good understanding of IT principles such as networks and hardware.
• Fiber/Data/Copper cable installation and maintenance, including working with MPO fibers.
• Hands-on experience in IMAC and break-fix activities related to infrastructure environment.
• Ability to identify defective spares and replace them with provided good spares as instructed and by physical observations.

Preferred Skill Set: Project Management Experience:

• Task queue management, governance (SLA/KPI management, problem escalation/RCA/CAR), and external vendor management.
• Customer-facing skills: able to communicate clearly and effectively both with the client and the customer.
• Logical and analytical approach to work, accurate documentation.

Work Experience:

• 5-8 years of Data center infrastructure or DWDM.
• 3+ Years of experience in Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Network Hardware

Education :

• BSc. degree in computer science or a related field or an equivalent associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from three-year college or technical school with an emphasis in electronics required, bachelors Degree preferred.
• Tech certification Knowledge of ITIL and experience of working within an ITIL environment would be preferred.
• Language skills needed: English.
